刈取り管理がイタドリ再生茎の生産構造に及ぼす影響を調査した。その結果，6月に地際刈りを行なった場合，1次枝の同化器官が上層に分布して草冠を形成するのに対して，7月の地際刈りや6月～8月の高刈りをした場合には，2次枝の葉が草冠を形成した。さらに，いずれの刈取り時期においても1次枝と2次枝は競合することなく，上層と下層に同化器官が位置し，「見かけ上のすみわけ」のような構造を形成した。また，早い時期に刈取りを行なった場合，草冠部に葉面積あたりの乾物重（LMA）の小さい薄い葉が形成される傾向にあった。
