This paper presents a constitutive law based on Taylor’s model implemented in our non-linear finite element code LAGAMINE. The yield locus is only locally described and a particular interpolation method has been developed. This local yield locus model uses a discrete representation of the material’s texture. The interpolation method is presented and a deep-drawing application is simulated in or...

A sensitivity analysis of VELFEEM, the Finite Element Ecological Model for the lagoon of Venice, has been performed in order to test the responses of the model to changes in external input regimes. The model is obtained by internally coupling a hydrodynamic model, an energetic model, and an ecological model. The hydrodynamics are simulated using SHYFEM, a barotropic bi-dimensional model based o...

OBJECTIVES Bond strength between adhesive systems and the tooth structure is influenced by a large number of variables, which makes the comparison among studies virtually impossible. Also, failure often times propagates into the dental substrate or the composite, deeming the results questionable at best. In spite of the increased popularity gained by micro-tensile and micro-shear tests, in vitr...

We construct trivariate macro-elements of class Cr for any r ≥ 1 over the Alfeld refinement of any tetrahedral partition in R3. In our construction, the degree of polynomials used for these macro-elements is the lowest possible. We also give the dimension formula for the subspace of consisting of these macroelements.

Architectural limitations in many situations make it necessary for the RC shear walls to be extended in plan in different directions at a single location that makes them a 3D configuration. Analysis of such walls is very challenging. In this research about 450 cases of 3D shear walls are considered with different shapes and heights. L, T and H-shape walls are studied. They are nonlinearly analy...

Prediction of mechanical properties of carbon nanotube-based composite is one of the important issues which should be addressed reasonably. A proper modeling approach is a multi-scale technique starting from nano scale and lasting to macro scale passing in-between scales of micro and meso. The main goal of this research is to develop a multi-scale modeling approach to extract mechanical propert...

A discrete-module-finite element (DMFE) based hydroelasticity method has been proposed and well developed. Firstly, a freely floating flexible structure is discretized into several macro-submodules in two horizontal directions to perform multi-rigid-body hydrodynamic analysis. Each macro-submodule then abstracted lumped mass at the center of gravity that bears external forces including inertia ...

Two samples, water extract and blended whole leaves, of fresh Kalanchoe integra leaves (Crassulaceae), a traditional antihypertensive medicine used in Ghana, were analyzed with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence spectroscopy (EDXRF). Analysis revealed 12 macro and 26 micro elements in both extracts. Further quantitative assessment of the results for amounts of elements that are pharmacologica...

The authors have analysed macro and micro element contents of the mother’s colostrum and mother’s milk in comparison with the newest publications. Calcium contents of the mother’s milk varied in most of the studies between 84 and 462, while phosphorus contents varied from 17 and 278 mg/dm. The amount of both calcium and phosphorus increased during lactation, but none of these elements was affec...

Abstract Stress and strain average rules are the key conceptual pillars of wide field continuum micromechanics materials. The aforementioned express that spatial (micro‐)stress (micro‐)strain fields throughout a microscopically finite representative volume element (RVE) equal to (macro‐)stress (macro‐)strain values associated with corresponding macroscopically infinitesimal (macroscopic materia...
