INTRODUCTION The combination of neurofibromatosis and liposarcoma is very rare. We present a case of a dedifferentiated liposarcoma in the forearm, as a complication in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1. CASE PRESENTATION A Caucasian man with neurofibromatosis type 1 presented at our clinic complaining of a slow growing swelling on his left forearm over a period of one and a half years....

Well-differentiated liposarcoma represents a radiographic diagnostic dilemma. To determine the accuracy, interrater reliability, and relationship of stranding, nodularity, and size in the MRI differentiation of lipoma and well-differentiated liposarcoma, MRI scans of 60 patients with large (>5 cm), deep, pathologically proven lipomas or well-differentiated liposarcomas were examined by 10 obser...

The relapse and resistance to chemo- and radiotherapy are main problems in the treatment of human liposarcoma. It is important to find a functional marker existing in the liposarcoma cells for targeting. In this article, we established a new sub-cell line SW872-S cells with high tumorigenicity from human liposarcoma SW872 cells by repeated inoculation approach. The characteristic of the sub-cel...

PATIENTS & METHODS Between October 1986 and April 2013, 231 patients who were diagnosed with liposarcoma by histologic examination were enrolled in this study. RESULTS The distribution of histologic subtypes was well-differentiated (n = 97, 42%), myxoid (n = 74, 32%), dediffer...

Liposarcoma is the most common pathology seen in the soft tissue sarcoma of retroperitoneum. These tumors have been traditionally treated with radical surgery sacrificing adjacent organs to achieve clear margins. We have reported our experience of renal sparing surgery for perirenal liposarcoma in two patients with more than 24 month disease free survival.

Liposarcomas of the mediastinum and chest wall have been previously described; however, primary pleural liposarcoma is extremely rare. We report an exceedingly rare case of a well-differentiated sclerosing pleural liposarcoma in a 47-year-old male that was resected. We emphasise the importance of careful inspection of the origin of these tumours to allow accurate diagnosis.

Rhabdomyoblastic differentiation in liposarcoma is a rare entity, with only few cases being reported in the literature. These cases were reported in either dedifferentiated liposarcomas or in recurrent tumours which occurred in the retroperitoneum. The present case was a rare case of a primary parapharyngeal well differentiated liposarcoma with a focal rhabdomyoblastic differentiation.

Liposarcoma is an uncommon malignant tumor. It originates in the mesenchymal cells, and is the most common of the soft tissue sarcomas. The authors report a case of a 40 year-old male tennis player with liposarcoma in the posterior right knee and distal thigh region.

Giant pedunculated liposarcoma of the esophagus is considered a rare entity. They impose difficulties in management, especially the surgical approach. We report a case of giant pedunculated liposarcoma of the esophagus in a 62-year-old male who underwent cervical excision of this large tumor, and made a full recovery. Hurthle cell thyroid cancer was found during the work-up, which was managed a...
