Abstract Composite components combine the benefits of different materials, leading to improved product properties, enhanced resource- and energy efficiency widening spectrum. Draw-forging is unique combination deep-drawing cold forging, where a core material encapsulated within thin sheet metal blank. Previously, basic draw-forging process only allowed covering shaft tip, covered length was lim...

Parallel programs are difficult to understand and the research community is determined to provide tools to help improve that understanding. As a result, there is intense interest in using visualization to understand the execution of parallel programs. But visualization is like the surgeon’s knife: properly used it will quickly cut to the essentials; improper use brings colorful but disastrous r...

The mechanical properties of in situ composites based on blends of polycarbonate and a liquid crystalline copoly(ester amide) (Vectra B950) have been studied as functions of the liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) concentration and the draw ratio, a processing parameter. It is shown that both the elastic modulus and the tensile strength of the in situ composites increase steadily with the LCP conc...

the aim of this paper is to develop a systematic method to analyze the effects of forming parameters on the quality of part formability and determine the optimal combination of the forming parameters for the sheet hydroforming process. in this paper, the effects of four important process parameters namely fluid pressure, friction coefficient at blank/punch interface, gap between die rim block a...

The draw-a-man (DAM) and draw-a-woman (DAW) tests were given to 307 schoolchildren in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The children were ethnically Malay, Chinese, or Indian (Tamil), and all came from lower socioeconomic groups. The standard scores of the Chinese children averaged 118 in the DAM and 112 in the DAW tests. These scores were significantly better than the American standards. Malay children...
