Planckian scattering of particles with angular momenta is studied by describing them as sources of Kerr metric. In the shock wave formalism, it is found that the angular momenta do not contribute to the scattering amplitude in the eikonal limit. This is confirmed by using the wave equation of the test particle in the Kerr background. Typeset using REVTEX E-Mail: saurya,[email protected] 1

We investigate the effects of Raman and Kerr gain in crystalline microresonators and determine the conditions required to generate mode-locked frequency combs. We show theoretically that a strong, narrowband Raman gain determines a maximum microresonator size allowable to achieve comb formation. We verify this condition experimentally in diamond and silicon microresonators and show that there e...

The polar Kerr effect in the high-T_(c) superconductor YBa2Cu3O6+x was measured at zero magnetic field with high precision using a cyogenic Sagnac fiber interferometer. We observed nonzero Kerr rotations of order approximately 1 microrad appearing near the pseudogap temperature T(*) and marking what appears to be a true phase transition. Anomalous magnetic behavior in magnetic-field training of...

Motivated by the study of the propagation of electromagnetic waves through a multi-layered optical medium, we prove the existence of two different kinds of homoclinic solutions to the origin in a Schrödinger equation with a nonlinear term. We use a Krasnoselskii fixed point theorem together with a compactness criterion due to Zima. The main results are illustrated with concrete examples of prac...

We investigate the effective interaction between two microwave fields, mediated by a transmon-type superconducting artificial atom which is strongly coupled to a coplanar transmission line. The interaction between the fields and atom produces an effective cross-Kerr coupling. We demonstrate average cross-Kerr phase shifts of up to 20 degrees per photon with both coherent microwave fields at the...

It is shown that the Dirac equation is separable by variables in a five-dimensional rotating Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter black hole with two independent angular momenta. A first-order symmetry operator that commutes with the Dirac operator is constructed in terms of a rank-three Killing-Yano tensor whose square is a second-order symmetric Stäckel-Killing tensor admitted by the five-dimensional Kerr-(...

We propose to combine multiple laser beams into a single diffraction-limited beam by beam self-focusing (collapse) in a Kerr medium. Beams with total power above critical are first combined in the near field and then propagated in the optical fiber/waveguide with Kerr nonlinearity. Random fluctuations during propagation eventually trigger a strong self-focusing event and produce a diffraction-l...

We report on plasmonic waveguides made of a thin metal stripe surrounded on one or both sides by a Kerr nonlinear medium. Using an iterative numerical method, we investigate the stationary long-range plasmons that exist for self-focusing and self-defocusing Kerr-type nonlinearities. The solutions are similar to the wellknown case of infinitely wide nonlinear waveguides—they are strongly power-d...

The correspondence between the shadow radius and real part of quasinormal modes (QNMs) a Kerr–Sen black hole is studied. By using equation angular separation constant QNMs, expression QNMs related to established in eikonal limit. We found that, our formula can reduce previous result Kerr when Kerr-Sen parameter b sets zero.
