We present a rare case of multiple cavernous hemangiomas. A 19-year-old girl was seen with dyspnea and fatigue. Thoracic computed tomography showed multiple nodule shadows scattered in the lung. Lung biopsy was carried out. Postoperative histopathologic study identified the nodules as pulmonary cavernous hemangiomas.
The typical sonographic appearance of liver hemangiomas is a well-demarcated hyperechoic mass with homogeneous echodensity. Focal liver lesions may change their ultrasound characteristics over time. We present a case of dynamic pattern of liver hemangiomas during a state of systemic inflammation.
Vascular malformations are described in 25 members of one affected family. Most of these lesions were cavernous hemangiomas, but arteriovenous malformations and capillary hemangiomas were also microscopically observed in some specimens. The five generation pedigree suggests the vascular malformations are genetically determined on the basis of a dominant inherited trait.
Hemangiomas of the uterine cervix are extremely rare. The tumor can have a variety of appearance. When a cervical hemangioma is diagnosed in an asymptomatic nulliparous woman or during pregnancy, expectant management is warranted. Surgical intervention, laser, ablation, or Cesarean section is reserved for hemangiomas that present major problems. The natural history of cervical hemangioma is reg...
BACKGROUND Cavernous hemangiomas are the most frequent neoplasms of the liver and in routine clinical practice they often need to be differentiated from malignant tumors and other benign focal lesions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether diagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of hepatic hemangiomas, showing atypical pattern on US, improves with the use of Gd-BOPTA ...
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy and adverse effects of oral propranolol for treatment of periocular infantile hemangioma. METHODS Participants were treated with oral propranolol 3 times daily, with outpatient monitoring of adverse effects. The starting dosage was 0.5 mg/kg/d for 1 week, then 1 mg/kg/d for the following week, then 2 mg/kg/d for the remaining duration of treatment. Serial ex...
OBJECTIVES Infantile hemangiomas often are inapparent at birth and have a period of rapid growth during early infancy followed by gradual involution. More precise information on growth could help predict short-term outcomes and make decisions about when referral or intervention, if needed, should be initiated. The objective of this study was to describe growth characteristics of infantile heman...
Hemangiomas, common benign vascular tumors, have been well reported in the head and neck region. They have rarely been reported in the ear. Ear involvement hemangiomas are usually seen in the together with external auditory channel and middle ear. We presented a 62-year-old woman of capillary promontory hemangioma which was mimicking as glomus tympanicum with a review of the literature.
Hemangiomas are benign vascular malformations of childhood characterized histologically by endothelial proliferation and clinically by rapidly expanding erythematous nodules. The incidence in newborns is approximately 2% to 3%, making them the most common tumors of infancy. Hemangiomas are typically classified as superficial (cutaneous), deep (subcutaneous), or mixed (cutaneous and subcutaneous...
BACKGROUND Traditionally, open hepatic resection is the first choice of treatment for symptomatic enlarging hepatic hemangiomas, which requires a large abdominal incision and is associated with substantial recovery time and morbidity. Minimally invasive laparoscopic resection has been used recently in liver surgery for treating selected hepatic hemangiomas. However, laparoscopic liver surgery p...
