Recent experiments on ferroelectric gating have introduced a novel functionality, i.e., nonvolatility, in graphene field-effect transistors. A comprehensive understanding in the nonlinear, hysteretic ferroelectric gating and an effective way to control it are still absent. In this Letter, we quantitatively characterize the hysteretic ferroelectric gating using the reference of an independent ba...
The paper deals with the analysis of flux-controlled memristor which is described by its unambiguous charge-flux constitutive relation. The memristor is excited by ideal sinusoidal voltage source in order to sense its typical i – v pinched hysteretic loop. Two equivalent schematics of the transformation of the exciting voltage into the current response are described. The first one is selected f...
Hysteretic energy dissipation in conventional structural configurations can be undesirable if it is achieved by the damage of primary structural members. Ideally, this hysteretic energy dissipation should occur in structural elements that are “disposable” (i.e., structural fuses that can be replaced without disturbance to the main system, just like real fuses). Much work has been accomplished o...
Memory resistor or memristor is already fabricated successfully using current nano dimension technology. Based on its unique hysteresis, the amount of resistance remains constant over time, controlled by the time, the amplitude, and the polarity of the applied voltage. The unique hysteretic current-voltage characteristic in the memristor causes this element to act as a non-volatile resistive me...
Following the approach of [22], we derive a system of FokkerPlanck equations to model a stock-market in which hysteretic agents can take long and short positions. We show numerically that the resulting mesoscopic model has rich behaviour, being hysteretic at the mesoscale and allowing bubbles and volatility clustering in particular.
We demonstrate strong experimental support for the cybernetic model based on maximizing carbon uptake rate in describing the microorganism's regulatory behavior by verifying exacting predictions of steady state multiplicity in a chemostat. Experiments with a feed mixture of glucose and pyruvate show multiple steady state behavior as predicted by the cybernetic model. When multiplicity occurs at...
