Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN will provide excellent opportunity to study the production and decay of heavy mesons and baryons with high statistics. We aim at the heavy mesons in this work and calculate their fragmentation functions consistent with this machine and present their total fragmentation probabilities and average fragmentation parameters.
I review hadronic processes involving strange hadrons, especially hyperons from the quark structure point of view. The strong interaction of quarks expects several important new features when the strangeness is introduced upon the non-strange degrees of freedom. I concentrate on the instanton induced interaction, e ects of the Pauli principle for strangeness and the nonleptonic weak interaction...
When we apply the renormalizable theory of weak interaction1l to the hadron system, we have some limitations on the hadron model. It is well known that there exists, in the case of the triplet model, a difficulty of the strangeness changing neutral current and that the quartet model is free from this difficulty. Furthermore, Maki and one of the present authors (T.M.) have shown2l that, in the l...
We study s-wave scattering of a hadron and a Nambu-Goldstone boson induced by the model-independent low energy interaction in the flavor SU(3) symmetric limit. Establishing the general structure of the interaction based on group theoretical arguments, we find that the interaction in the exotic channels are in most cases repulsive, and that for possible attractive channels the coupling strengths...
We analyze the potentiality of the CERN Large Hadron Collider to probe the Higgs boson couplings to the electroweak gauge bosons. We parametrize the possible deviations of these couplings due to new physics in a model independent way, using the most general dimension–six effective lagrangian where the SU(2)L ⊗ U(1)Y is realized linearly. For intermediate Higgs masses, the decay channel into two...
We present a brief pedagogical introduction to the Effective Electroweak Chiral Lagrangians, which provide a model independent description of the WW interactions in the strong regime. When it is complemented with some unitarization or a dispersive approach, this formalism allows the study of the general strong scenario expected at the LHC, including resonances.
We examine the virtual effects of Kaluza-Klein (KK) states on Higgs physics in universal extra dimension models. We study the partial widths Γh→gg, Γh→γγ , and Γh→γZ , which are relevant for Higgs production and detection in future collider experiments. These interactions occur at one loop in the Standard Model, as do the KK contributions. We find that the deviations induced by the KK exchanges...
The electroweak theory elegantly combines the electromagnetic and weak forces, explaining a wide range of interactions using a gauge theory with just three parameters. The theory predicted the W and Z weak gauge bosons before they were directly observed in 1983, and its detailed predictions of W and Z boson properties have been tested to such precision that they now serve as probes for new part...
The large parton flux at high energy gives rise to events where different pairs of partons interact contemporarily with large momentum exchange. A main effect of multiple parton interactions is to generate events with many jets at relatively large transverse momenta. The large value of the heavy quarks production cross section may however give also rise a sizable rate of events with several b-q...
