The paper presents theoretical support for and describes the use of a fuzzy paradigm in implementing a TTS system for the Romanian language, employing a rule-based formant synthesizer. In the framework of classic TTS systems, we propose a new approach in order to improve formant trace computation, aiming at increasing synthetic speech perceptual quality. A fuzzy system is proposed for solving t...

Rainfall prediction is an essential and challenging task in hydro-meteorology. Most of the existing weather dataset used for prediction consists of observatory record of several atmospheric parameters. Identifying the significant parameters from irrelevant and redundant parameter set for weather prediction is important because irrelevant parameters may decrease the prediction accuracy. The main...

In the last years have seen a strong increase in the 802.11 wireless local area network (WLAN) technologies use, and the security mechanisms implemented by amendments IEEE 802.11i and IEEE 802.11w have proven not very effective in combating attacks against availability of WLAN services. Intrusion detection systems emerge as a way to help computer networks in this combat against the deny of serv...

Compared to physiologically based biometric systems such as fingerprint, face, palm-vein and retina, behavioral based biometric systems such as signature, voice, gait, etc. are less popular and many of the research in these areas are still in their infancy. One of the reasons is due to the inconsistencies in human behavior which requires more robust algorithms in their developments. In this pap...

This paper deals with the application of a neuro-fuzzy inference system to a mobile robot navigation in an unknown, or partially unknown environment. The final aim of the robot is to reach some pre-defined goal. For this purpose, a sort of a co-operation between three main sub-modules is performed. These sub-modules consist in three elementary robot tasks: following a wall, avoiding an obstacle...

1 This paper presents a new technique for the design of real-time controllers based on a hybrid approach which integrates several control strategies, such as intelligent controllers (e.g., arti cial neural networks, fuzzy systems), traditional linear controllers, nite state automata. An integrated programming environment, called EL-SIM, is also presented, suited for developing high-performance ...

In this paper, we propose an interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent tracking filter with fuzzy gain to reduce tracking error for maneuvering target. In the proposed filter, the unknown acceleration input for each sub-model is determined by mismatches between the modelled target dynamics and the actual target dynamics. After an acceleration input is detected, the state estimat...

When a finite group G acts faithfully on a graded integral domain S which is an algebra over a field k, such as a polynomial ring, we consider S as a kG-module. We show that S is asymptotically mostly projective in each degree, and also that it is in fact mostly free in an appropriate sense. Similar results also hold for filtered algebras, such as power series rings.

Humanoid robotics is a field of a great research interest nowadays. This work implements a low-cost teleoperated system to control a humanoid robot, as a first step for further development and study of human motion and walking. A human suit is built, consisting of 8 sensors, 6 resistive linear potentiometers on the lower extremities and 2 digital accelerometers for the arms. The goal is to repl...

This paper focuses on using the Bees Algorithm (BA) to tune parameters of proposed Fuzzy Proportional–Integral–Derivative with Filtered derivative (Fuzzy PIDF), Fractional Order PID (FOPID) controller and classical developed stabilize balance frequency in Great Britain (GB) power system at rated value. These controllers are meet requirements GB Security Quality Supply Standard (GB-SQSS), which ...
