We propose to use evidential reasoning in order to relax Bayesian decisions given by a Markovian classification algorithm (ICM). The Dempster–Shafer rule of combination enables us to fuse decisions in a local spatial neighborhood which we further extend to be multisource. This approach enables us to more directly fuse information. Application to the classification of very noisy images produces ...
We introduce a family of logics for reasoning about relational evidence: evidence that involves an orderings of states in terms of their relative plausibility. We provide sound and complete axiomatizations for the logics. We also present several evidential actions and prove soundness and completeness for the associated dynamic logics.
In the future, competitive advantages will be given to organisations that can extract valuable information from massive data and make better decisions. In most cases, this data comes from multiple sources. Therefore, the challenge is to aggregate them into a common framework in order to make them meaningful and useful. This paper will first review the most important multi-criteria decision analy...
Urban fringe is the transition zone fine grained with urban and non-urban land cover types. The complex landscape mosaic in this area challenges the land cover classification based on the remote-sensing data. Spectral signatures are not efficient to discriminate all pixels into classes. To improve the recognition and handle the uncertainty, this paper provides a novel integrated approach, based...
In this study, a new risk assessment model is developed and the evidence reasoning (ER) approach applied to assess failure of knowledge-intensive services (KIS) corporates in UK. General quantitative financial indicators alone (e.g., operational capability or profitability) cannot comprehensively evaluate probability company bankruptcy KIS sector. This combines with macroeconomic variables, ind...
Medical decision making can be viewed along a spectrum, with categorical (or deterministic) reasoning at one extreme and probabilistic (or evidential) reasoning at the other. In this paper we examine the flowchart as the prototype of categorical reasoning and decision analysis as the prototype of probabilistic reasoning. Within this context we compare PIP, INTERNIST, CASNET, and MYCZN-four of t...
