Functional connectivity (FC) between brain regions is thought to be central to the way in which the brain processes information. Abnormal connectivity is thought to be implicated in a number of diseases. The ability to study FC is therefore a key goal for neuroimaging. Functional connectivity (fc) MRI has become a popular tool to make connectivity measurements but the technique is limited by it...

– Theoretically scalar potential Φ waves with a longitudinal electric field E in the direction of propagation must exist. A centrally fed ball antenna, 6 cm diameter, producing a pulsating 433.59MHz spherical source charge, generated such a wave, that was detected by an identical ball antenna. The longitudinality of E was demonstrated by intervening a cubic array of 9 half-wavelength wires, tha...

Numerical solutions of coupled Maxwell and Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equations for a magnetized yttrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere acting as a one-stage filter are presented. The filter is analysed using finite-difference time-domain technique. Contrary to the state of the art, the study shows that the maximum electromagnetic power transmission through the YIG filter occurs at the frequency of the ...

Electrodynamic sensors are used in the process industry because they are low cost and robust. Though frequently used very little fundamental work on them has been reported. This paper describes an investigation into characteristics of hemispherically and rectangularly shaped sensors. Two parameters are investigated, the effect of sensor area on sensitivity and the spatial filtering effect of th...

The strong field localization generated between closely placed metal particles excited by electromagnetic radiation induces intense forces on small polarizable objects. In this study we investigate the optical forces that can be generated in the vicinity of metal nanoparticle clusters using fully electrodynamic numerical simulations. The influence of the cluster configuration as well as of the ...

This paper describes the procedure implemented at CEM for dynamic force calibration using sinusoidal excitations of force transducers. The method is based on a sinusoidal excitation of force transducers equipped with an additional top mass excited with an electrodynamic shaker system. The acceleration is measured by means of a laser vibrometer.

Recent analyses of ion measurements band electrostatic noise observed in the frequency obtained from the Differential Ion Flux Probe range of 30 Hz to 178 kHz [Shawhan et al., 1984]. (DIFP) on the deployed Plasma Diagnostics Package The Differential Ion Flux Probe (DIFP), used (PDP) during the OSS-1/STS-3 mission have provided for the ion measurements, has been described in an additional insigh...
