Process intensification refers to technologies and strategies that enable simpler and more efficient processes compared to conventional processes. Some features of such intensified processes are less recycle streams, reduced need for waste handling and lower investment and operating costs compared to conventional processes. One way of doing this is by making two or more process steps simultaneo...

A complementary behavior between local mutual information and average output entanglement is derived for arbitrary bipartite ensembles. This leads to bounds on the yield of entanglement in distillation protocols that involve disinguishing. This bound is saturated in the hashing protocol for distillation, for Bell-diagonal states.

The essential oil of Pimenta dioica was isolated by hydro distillation and steam distillation. The aqueous extract was also taken. The antioxidant, total phenolic and the antimicrobial studies were conducted. The antimicrobial activity was significant. The IC50 value of extract and essential oil are 390 μg/ml and 2340 μg/ml respectively.

This paper describes BUPT (pris) participation in faceted blog distillation task at Blog Track 2009. The system adopts a two-stage strategy in faceted blog distillation task. In the first stage, the system carries out a basic topic relevance retrieval to get the top k blogs for each query. In the second stage, different models are designed to judge the facets and ranking.

Recently, Lucia et al. have used a distillation line method to develop the concept of shortest stripping line distance approach to minimum energy designs of distillation columns and multiunit processes. It is well known that distillation line methods can be very sensitive to specified product compositions. A two-level distillation design procedure is proposed for finding portfolios of minimum e...

Quantum universality can be achieved using classically controlled stabilizer operations and repeated preparation of certain ancilla states. Which ancilla states suffice for universality? This “magic states distillation” question is closely related to quantum fault tolerance. Lower bounds on the noise tolerable on the ancilla help give lower bounds on the tolerable noise rate threshold for fault...

Dropout is a popular stochastic regularization technique for deep neural networks that works by randomly dropping (i.e. zeroing) units from the network during training. This randomization process allows to implicitly train an ensemble of exponentially many networks sharing the same parametrization, which should be averaged at test time to deliver the final prediction. A typical workaround for t...

An important task required to build a scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computer is to efficiently represent an arbitrary single-qubit rotation by fault-tolerant quantum operations. Traditionally, the method for decomposing a single-qubit unitary into a discrete set of gates is Solovay-Kitaev decomposition, which in practice produces a sequence of depth O(log(1/ )), where c ∼ 3.97 is the state-o...

Abstract In this work we present a methodology for synthesizing sequences of columns that combine both, the heat integrated and the thermally coupled distillation columns. As a consequence it is possible to design systems capturing simultaneously the advantages of these two approaches. A superstructure based on separation tasks rather in actual columns is proposed. This approach is more flexibl...

A study has been made of various methods of distillation of solutions of furfural and of xylose with the object of increasing the 88-percent yield of furfural obtained from xylose by the present standard m ethod of distillation. Sources of error that have been considered are: Decomposition of furfural, volatilization of furfural, effect of rubber stoppers used in the distillation procedure, inc...
