Colloidal mesoporous silica nanoparticles less than 20 nm in diameter are prepared by dialysis; this simple surfactant removal route can avoid aggregation by sedimentation-redispersion and remove cationic surfactants while retaining the original colloidal state, which is applicable to the preparation of primary nanoparticles carrying a functional organic substance.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of polyurethane foam containing silver nanoparticles synthesized by Verbena officinalis leaf extract in controlling of Yersinia ruckeri in treatment of water tanks of rainbow trout farming. Biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles is done with 2mM silver nitrate solution and Verbena officinalis extract. To study antibacterial effects of the produ...
Gold nanoparticles with average diameter of 1.0 nm and narrow size distribution can be easily obtained by disproportionation of Au(+) ions, in the presence of a persulfurated coronene dendrimer that favors encounters between Au(+) ions and protects the resulting small nanoparticles from further aggregation.
Fine shape-control of gold nanoparticles was achieved in the presence of an amphiphilic polythiophene with an isothiouronium pendant, by varying the experimental conditions for the crystallization; we succeeded to prepare π-conjugated polythiophene-capped Au nanoplates, Au nanocubes and Au nanoparticles with an average spherical diameter of (7.7 ± 1.6) nm.
Self-assembly of gold nanoparticles was obtained by sputter deposition on DES. SAXS and TEM investigations reveal the formation of spherical nanoparticles with a mean diameter of 5 ± 0.5 nm. For extended sputtering times, the number density of AuNPs increases linearly and a very pronounced 1st and 2nd shell ordering is observed.
Tungsten nanoparticles were obtained from liquid-ammonia-based synthesis via reduction of WCl6 with dissolved sodium. The W(0) nanoparticles exhibit a diameter of 1-2 nm and can be dispersed in alkanes, showing a grayish-orange color due to red-shifted plasmon resonance absorption.
Size-controllable Pt nanoparticles ranging from 1.3 to 2.3 nm were successfully loaded onto ZSM-5 (Pt-x/ZSM-5, where x is the mean diameter of the Pt nanoparticles). Catalytic tests in complete oxidation of toluene as a model for VOC removal show that Pt-1.9/ZSM-5 has the highest activity, due to a balance of Pt dispersion and Pt(0) proportion.
Well-defined nanoparticles composed of a tetraphenylmethane-based microporous polymer network with an average particle diameter of 30-60 nm were fabricated by a miniemulsion polymerization technique. Strong green emission was observed and efficient excitation energy transfer from nanoparticles to surface-bound dye molecules was explored.
Uptake of several atmospheric molecules on free ice nanoparticles was investigated. Typical examples were chosen: water, methane, NO(x) species (NO, NO(2)), hydrogen halides (HCl, HBr), and volatile organic compounds (CH(3)OH, CH(3)CH(2)OH). The cross sections for pickup of these molecules on ice nanoparticles (H(2)O)(N) with the mean size of N≈260 (diameter ~2.3 nm) were measured in a molecula...
Our recent work [1] theoretically revealed that speckles can be formed when nanofluids containing a modest volume fraction of nanoparticles are illuminated by a monochromatic laser beam. This paper focuses on the key issues, including the experimental setup, the particle volume fraction of the nanofluid, the flow velocity of the nanofluid and the diameter of the pipe, in measuring the velocitie...
