In this report a method is applied that was originally developed for the creation of evaluation frameworks for CASE-tools. Here the method is taken out of its original context and applied for the creation of an evaluation framework for database design transformation in CASE-tools. The focus of this report is on the process of creating the framework and not on the resulting framework. The creati...

In this paper, a 24 GHz transformer-coupled VCO is presented for a wide linear tuning range in the 0.13-μm CMOS process. The measured results of the proposed VCO show that the center frequency is 23.5 GHz with 7.4% frequency tuning range. The output frequency curve has wide linear tuning region (5.5%) at the middle of the curve. Also, the VCO exhibits good phase noise of −110.23 dBc/Hz at an of...

Phase III development of a micro-hydroelectric power generating system is focused on enhancing the system designed by Phases I and II. The previous phases focused on the use of the Gorlov Helical Turbine (GHT) to derive power from a fresh water environment, specifically the Stevens River in Vermont. Phase III exclusively focused on deriving power from an ocean environment and the construction o...

In this paper, a generalized formula is proposed for the selection of number of slots required for n-phase alternative current (AC) machine design and the criterion for selecting the starting points of each phases. The analytical model is verified using a four-pole machine with a 36-slot stator. Each coil of the stator winding of this machine is brought out to a patch board that enables the sta...

Memristor predicted and described by L. O. Chua is a new electrical element. Memristor with variable resistance which changes automatically as its voltage changing can be used as a tunable parameter in control systems. Phase-lead controller is widely used in industrial process control applications. The conventional method for adjusting phase-lead controller parameters is based on the “trial and...

Clock distribution has traditionally been a circuit design problem with negligible micro-architectural impact. However, for clock distribution networks using multiple phase-locked loops (PLLs), this will most likely not be the case. This paper discusses the microarchitectural impact of using multiple PLLs for clock distribution. Two PLL phase synchronization algorithms are presented and analyze...

This paper discusses a vehicle control augmentation strategy bringing into focus the phase property, and proposes a control bandwidth phase shaping technique which is applicable to control augmentation system design. This paper points out that the problem setting of the control augmentation system design and structure/control integrated design has similarity. As expected from the similarity, it...

See the difference. Use 3D models based on proven transportation engineering design with Bentley software. When building the 5.6 billion dollar Airport Link, Northern Busway and Airport Roundabout Upgrade project, the Parsons Brinckerhoff Arup Joint Venture team delivered the design and carried out the construction in record time. Using Bentley’s broad range of road, bridge, tunnel, geotechnica...

Unfortunately, most of the articles and books written about designing the Loop Filter for PLL synthesizers dwell in the theoretical and try to cover the subject for all cases of PLL synthesizer design. This article will consider the design of a simple passive three-pole Loop Filter typically used in low voltage, low operating bandwidth synthesizer applications. This approach will simplify and d...

This paper highlights the rationale for exclusive territories in a model of repeated interaction between competing supply chains. We show that with observable contracts exclusive territories have two countervailing effects on manufacturers’ incentives to sustain tacit collusion. First, granting local monopolies to retailers softens competition in a one-shot game. Hence, punishment profits are l...
