Nowadays NMR spectroscopy becomes a powerful tool in chemistry because of the NMR chemical shifts. Hartree–Fock theory and the Gauge-including atomic orbital (GIAO) methods are used in the calculation of 29Si NMR chemical shifts of various silicate species in the silicate solution as initial components for zeolite synthesis both in gas and solution phase. Calculations have been performed at geo...
The thermal denaturation of adenosine deaminase (ADA) has been investigated in the presence of sodium n-dodecyl sulphate (SDS) over the temperature range of (293-363K) in 2.5 mM phosphate buffer, pH 6.4 by temperature scanning spectroscopy. The interaction of SDS caused the folding of adenosine deaminanse resulting in a decrease of TH (temperature of minimum solubility), TS<...
One of the bio-sensing mechanisms is mechanical. Rather than measuring shift in resonance frequency, we adopt to measure the change in spring constant due to adsorption, as one of the fundamental sensing mechanism. This study explains determination of spring constant of a surface functionalized micro machined micro cantilever, which resonates in a trapezoidal cavity-on Silicon wafer, with the ...

In Raman spectroscopy of graphite and graphene, the D band at ∼ 1355 cm−1 is used as the indication of the dirtiness of a sample. However, our analysis suggests that the physics behind the D band is closely related to a very clear idea for describing a molecule, namely bonding and antibonding orbitals in graphene. In this paper, we review our recent work on the mechanism for activating the D ba...
Recent CLEO-c results on open and closed charm physics at center-of-mass energy of 3773 MeV (ψ(3770) resonance), 4170 MeV and 3686 MeV (ψ(2S) peak) are reviewed. Measurements of absolute hadronic branching ratios of D 0 , D + and D + s mesons as well as charmonium spectroscopy are discussed. An outlook and future prospects for the experiment at CESR is also presented.
• XPS is used to study interactions of aminoalkylphosphonate inhibitors with carbon steel surfaces. These possess a non-polar alkyl group that can be systematically elongated. Additives are also studied by electrochemical and gravimetric techniques as corrosion inhibitors. Small chain diphosphonates exhibited lower resistance. Longer molecules were found form more organized thicker layer. The s...
We used tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy to study defect induced D-band Raman scattering in metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes with a spatial resolution of 15 nm. The spatial extent of the D-band signal in the vicinity of localized defects is visualized and found to be about 2 nm only. Using the strong optical fields underneath the tip, we photogenerate localized defects and derive a relati...
