Rendering document images for scanning and printing applications typically involves binarization via adaptive thresholding, halftoning, or color dropout. While bitonal rendering is often adequate, there are cases where multi-level rendering is required to capture important image characteristics. In this paper, we present two methods for multilevel rendering of document images. The first method ...
A method using ink-jet printing for constructing multi-enzyme systems was proposed, in which a precisely defined enzyme ratio and two-dimensional distribution was obtained by the preset 'color' values. The applications of the print-on-paper multi-enzyme systems were exemplified by the detection of glucose and the design of an enzyme-enabled two-dimensional code.
This paper is an attempt to integrate a wide variety of psychophysical experiments into a computational model to calculate color appearance. Having described the fundamentals of such a model, we turn to applying this model to printing wide dynamic range, real-life scenes and finding the best reproduction of an image with limited printer gamut.
Multicolor electrophosphorescent organic light-emitting diode (OLED) pixel patterning by organic vapor jet printing (OVJP) is demonstrated, showing that this technique is capable of rapidly generating high-definition full-color displays. The resolution limits, and means to achieve them are described using a combination of simulation and experimental approaches.
Color printing has been a key topic at CIC since its kick-off in 1993 and is still well represented today. This invited talk will provide an overview of the variety of print-related work presented at this conference over the last 19 years and will give some thought to future direction. The material shown in print here is only a brief summary of the talk and the interested reader is advised to l...
Three-dimensional (3D) printers have been applied in many fields, including engineering and the medical sciences. In the pharmaceutical field, approval of the first 3D-printed tablet by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2015 has attracted interest in the manufacture of tablets and drugs by 3D printing techniques as a means of delivering tailor-made drugs in the future. In current study, ...
Fused Filament Fabrication is an additive manufacturing process by which a 3D object is created from plastic filament. The filament is pushed through a hot nozzle where it melts. The nozzle deposits plastic layer after layer to create the final object. This process has been popularized by the RepRap community. Several printers feature multiple extruders, allowing objects to be formed from multi...
Multispectral images are a particular class of images that require specialized coding algorithms. In multispectral images, the same spatial region is captured multiple times using different imaging modalities. These modalities often consist of measurements at different optical wavelengths (hence the name multispectral), but the same term is sometimes used when the separate image planes are capt...
Ceramic art is essential in interior design and decoration, making exquisite ceramic tiles imposes strict requirements for inkjet printing technology. High-resolution are often produced through printing, which the input images converted into a halftone format. However, traditional binary halftoning techniques cannot produce high-resolution ensuing process. Given that processes of high-temperatu...
