We obtained the first full-length genome sequence of canine bocavirus 2 (CBoV2) from the faeces of a healthy dog in Guangzhou city, Guangdong province, mainland China. The genome of GZHD15 consisted of 5059 nucleotides. Sequence analysis suggested that GZHD15 was close to a previously circulated Hong Kong isolate.

Canine T-zone lymphoma (TZL) is a mature T-cell in dogs. The diagnosis and sub-classification are impossible without biopsy or immunophenotyping by flow cytometry. An 11-year-old, spayed, female Golden Retriever presented with lymph node enlargement. Clinical examination was consistent canine multicentric lymphoma. However, revealed positive for CD3, CD4, CD5, CD8, CD21, TCRαβ, MHCII but negati...

L eptospirosis has been described as a re-emerging disease in both dogs and humans. Whether or not a true increase in the incidence of canine leptospirosis (Figure 1) has occurred over the past 2 decades is unclear. Increased awareness and vigilance, partly spurred by educational campaigns, have likely increased the number of diagnosed cases. Still, several studies have suggested a temporal tre...

Canines spontaneously develop many cancers similar to humans - including osteosarcoma, leukemia, and lymphoma - offering the opportunity to study immune therapies in a genetically heterogeneous and immunocompetent environment. However, a lack of antibodies recognizing canine NK cell markers has resulted in suboptimal characterization and unknown purity of NK cell products, hindering the develop...

The pathophysiology of canine diabetes remains poorly understood, in part due to enigmatic clinical features and the lack of detailed histopathology studies. Canine diabetes, similar to human type 1 diabetes, is frequently associated with diabetic ketoacidosis at onset or after insulin omission. However, notable differences exist. Whereas human type 1 diabetes often occurs in children, canine d...

It is generally assumed that individual papillomas (warts) are caused by infection with individual papillomavirus types. Deep sequencing of virions extracted from a canine oral papilloma revealed the presence of canine papillomavirus 1 (CPV1), CPV2, and a novel canine papillomavirus, CPV19. This suggests that papillomas sometimes harbor multiple viral species.

The discovery of canine achiasma and hemichiasma has been followed by the identification of human achiasma (four individuals, to date). See-saw nystagmus was present in all cases of achiasma (canine and human) and in one of two cases of canine hemichiasma studied. Human infants with see-saw nystagmus should be imaged for possible structural abnormalities of the optic chiasm.

We cloned and characterized the canine A3 adenosine receptor (AR) and examined AR-induced degranulation of the BR line of canine mastocytoma cells. Canine A3AR transcript is found predominantly in spleen, lung, liver, and testes and encodes a 314-amino acid heptahelical receptor. 125I-N6-Aminobenzyladenosine binds to two affinity states of canine A3AR with KD values of 0.7 +/- 0.1 and 16 +/- 0....
