Current repair of a distal biceps tendon rupture has reverted to the single incision technique. Postoperative complications are rare, but the most common are due to neuropraxia. We present the case of patient who sustained multiple nerve injuries following distal biceps repair. This case is presented with a review of the literature.
INTRODUCTION Many surgical techniques have been described in the literature. In this article, we describe surgical technical details along with tips and tricks of distal biceps tendon tenodesis using the EndoButton and tension - slide technique, a modification of the suspensory cortical button technique, which allows the surgeon to tension and repairs the biceps tendon through the single longit...
STUDY DESIGN Prospective study. OBJECTIVE To investigate the efficacy of transcranial electrically stimulated muscle-evoked potentials (TcE-MsEPs) for predicting postoperative segmental upper extremity palsy following cervical laminoplasty. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Postoperative segmental upper extremity palsy, especially in the deltoid and biceps (so-called C5 palsy), is the most common ...
Methods: Twenty fresh-frozen cadaveric shoulders were dissected for analysis. Initial anatomic measurements involving the proximal long head of the biceps tendon (BT) were made, which included: the labral origin to the superior bicipital groove (LO-SBG), the total tendon length (TTL), the musculotendinous junction (MTJ) to the inferior pectoralis major tendon border, the MTJ to the superior pec...
Complete rupture of the distal biceps tendon is a rare injury, the overwhelming majority occurring in the dominant arm of males during the fourth to sixth decades of life. Simultaneous bilateral rupture of the distal biceps tendon is an extremely rare occurrence, with only three cases reported in the literature. This unusual injury occurred in a recreational weightlifter during a preacher curl ...
Distal biceps tendon (DBT) conditions are relatively common in middle-aged males. The number of reported DBT tears seems to have increased over the last few years, likely related to better understanding and improved diagnostic methods.1 While some individuals may maintain reasonable function after non-operative treatment of a ruptured DBT, biomechanical and clinical studies suggest that most in...
