We show a device with which, apparently, information (in the form of a ”slash-dot” code) is instantly transmitted via Bell state collapse, over arbitrary distance. We discuss some problems and paradoxes arising when this conclusion is viewed in the relativistic framework.
Bell inequalities are derived for any number of observers, any number of alternative setups for each one of them, and any number of distinct outcomes for each experiment. It is shown that if a physical system consists of several distant subsystems, and if the results of tests performed on the latter are determined by local variables with objective values, then the joint probabilities for trigge...
A new formulation of the EPR argument is presented, one which uses John Bell’s mathematically precise local causality condition in place of the looser locality assumption which was used in the original EPR paper and on which Niels Bohr seems to have based his objection to the EPR argument. The new formulation of EPR bears a striking resemblance to Bell’s derivation of his famous inequalities. T...
Before he became a famous inventor, Alexander Graham Bell opened a school for the deaf in Boston in 1872. He always thought that his main mission in life, and his greatest pleasure, was in teaching the deaf. Royalties from his telegraph and telephone patents allowed him to pursue this mission and make other contributions and discoveries. In 1880 the French government awarded him the Volta prize...
We combine the concept of Bell measurements, in which two systems are projected into a maximally entangled state, with the concept of continuous measurements, which concerns the evolution of a continuously monitored quantum system. For such time-continuous Bell measurements we derive the corresponding stochastic Schrödinger equations, as well as the unconditional feedback master equations. Our ...
At the heart of the orthodox interpretation of the quantum theory is the measurement postulate. We recall the context in which this postulate has been introduced and why it is unsatisfactory 1 . It supposes that the wave-function is the complete description of a system of particles. If we assume that the wave-function evolves according to a linear equation, we face the problem of macroscopic su...
