Real linear operators arise in a range of applications of mathematical physics. In this paper, basic properties of real linear operators are studied and their spectral theory is developed. Suitable extensions of classical operator theoretic concepts are introduced. Providing a concrete class, real linear multiplication operators are investigated and, motivated by the Beltrami equation, related ...

In this paper, we further investigate the constructions of fuzzy connectives on a complete lattice. We firstly illustrate the concepts of strict left (right)-conjunctive left (right) semi-uninorms by means of some examples. Then we give out the formulas for calculating the upper and lower approximation strict left (right)-conjunctive left (right) semi-uninorms of a binary operation.

This paper is concerned with establishing broadly-based system-theoretic foundations and practical techniques for the problem of system identification that are rigorous, intuitively clear and conceptually powerful. A general formulation is first given in which two order relations are postulated on a class of models: a constant one of complexity; and a variable one of approximation induced by an...

Let $L$ be an integral and commutative quantale. In this paper, by fuzzifying the notion of generalized neighborhood systems, the notion of $L$-fuzzy generalized neighborhoodsystem is introduced and then a pair of lower and upperapproximation operators based on it are defined and discussed. It is proved that these approximation operators include generalized neighborhood system...

With the emergence of the fundamental paper [5] by Zadeh in 1965 number of papers have appeared in literature featuring the application of fuzzy sets to pattern recognition, decision problems, function approximation, system theory, fuzzy logic, fuzzy algorithms, fuzzy automata, fuzzy grammars, fuzzy languages, fuzzy algebras, fuzzy topology, etc. [2], [7]. In this note, our interests are in the...

Most results for online decision problems with structured concepts, such as trees or cuts, assume linear costs. In many settings, however, nonlinear costs are more realistic. Owing to their non-separability, these lead to much harder optimization problems. Going beyond linearity, we address online approximation algorithms for structured concepts that allow the cost to be submodular, i.e., nonse...

Bilinear approximation of a matrix is a powerful paradigm of unsupervised learning. In some applications, however, there is a natural hierarchy of concepts that ought to be reflected in the unsupervised analysis, e.g. neurosciences image sequences. Therefore, we propose a decomposition of the matrix of observations into a product of more than two sparse matrices allowing for both hierarchical a...

In this paper, we further investigate the constructions of fuzzy connectives on a complete lattice. We firstly illustrate the concepts of left (right) semi-uninorms and implications satisfying the order property by means of some examples. Then we give out the formulas for calculating the upper and lower approximation implications, which satisfy the order property, of a binary operation.

This paper presents results for a 31 variable helicopter rotor design example. Results are given for several numerical methods. This is a brief description of a portion of the Boe-ing/IBM/Rice University collaboration whose purpose is to develop eeective numerical methods for managing the use of approximation concepts or response surface methodology in design optimization.

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of weighted ideal statistical convergence or SN (I)-convergence and I − (N, pn)-summability. We also establish the relations between our new methods. Further, we determine a Korovkin type approximation theorem through I − (N, pn)-summability. −−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−−
