Extraordinarily high reversible capacity of lithium-ion battery anodes is realized from SnO(2)/α-MoO(3) core-shell nanobelts. The reversible capacity is much higher than traditional theoretical results. Such behavior is attributed to α-MoO(3) that makes extra Li(2)O reversibly convert to Li(+).

Germanium (Ge) nanoparticle-multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) anodes are fabricated through the anchoring of Ge on the surface of electrophoretically pre-deposited MWCNT networks via a thermal evaporation process. Anatase TiO2 nanocrystals were successfully employed as anodes for rechargeable Na-ion batteries for the first time. The mesoporous electrodes exhibited a highly stable reversible charge storage capacity of ~150 mA h g(-1) over 100 cycles, and were able to withstand high rate cycling, fully recovering this capacity after being cycled at rates as high as 2 A g(-1).
