Association of gastric volvulus with agenesis of the left lobe of the liver is very rare and mostly reported in adults. We report a case of gastric volvulus associated with agenesis of the left lobe of the liver in a child, which was successfully treated by laparoscopic gastropexy.
Two boys with bilateral agenesis of kidneys and ureters were the product of a consanguineous marriage. This family and previous reports of familial bilateral renal agenesis support the supposition that a minor proportion of cases of BRA is caused by the homozygous state of an autosomal recessive gene.
Congenital uterine anomalies are often asymptomatic. They may present with infertility, recurrent miscarriage, preterm delivery, abnormal lie in pregnancy and other obstetric complications. We report the case of a 38-year old patient with unicornuate uterus without rudimentary horn and with unilateral left ovarian agenesis and unilateral left renal agenesis who gave birth to eleven children. An...
A case of the agenesis of gallbladder detected at laparotomy for symptomatoloy suggestive of gallbladder disease is described. The agenesis of gallbladder, diagnostic inaccuracies and fallacies of ultrasonography for gallbladder disease are discussed. The diagnosis ofagenesis was substantiated on MRCP, done postoperatively.
PURPOSE The objectives of this study were to investigate the prevalence and characteristics of tooth agenesis and the associated skeletal morphology and arch widths in a group of Turkish patients seeking orthodontic treatment. MATERIAL AND METHODS We designed a retrospective study composed of pre- and post-treatment panoramic radiographs and lateral cephalometric films of 3,341 patients (2,04...
Congenital tooth agenesis is caused by mutations in the MSX1, PAX9, WNT10A, or AXIN2 genes. Here, we report a Japanese family with nonsyndromic tooth agenesis caused by a novel nucleotide substitution in the intronic region between exons 1 and 2 of the MSX1 gene. Because the mutation is located 9 bp before exon 2 (c.452-9G>A), we speculated that the nucleotide substitution would generate an abn...
AIM Renal agenesis is a fairly common congenital anomaly with an unknown definite etiology. Unilateral renal agenesis is much more common than bilateral renal agenesis, but it usually does not carry any major health consequence, as long as the other kidney is healthy. In some cases, renal agenesis may by associated with other congenital anomalies. We report a neonatal female patient born with u...
A case of suspected chronic cholecystitis who underwent laparotomy, was found to have agenesis of gall bladder. Standard investigative modalities which are done for chronic cholecystitis might be fallacious and baffling. Agenesis of gall bladder should be kept in mind whenever the gall bladder is improperly visualised in routine imaging methods.
Recent studies suggested a link between type 1 diabetes mellitus and pervasive developmental disorder. Moreover, permanent neonatal diabetes mellitus due to pancreatic agenesis can be associated with neurological deficit involving cerebellar functions, but no association with pervasive developmental disorder has been described so far. Clinical and neuropsychological evaluation of a child with p...
Neonatal diabetes mellitus, which is defined as hyperglycemia presenting within the first six weeks of life, is a rare disorder. It may result in transient or permanent disease. Pancreatic agenesis is a rare cause of neonatal diabetes. We report a neonate who was small for gestational age and presented with diabetes mellitus and signs of malabsorption because of pancreatic agenesis.
