Transmissible colistin resistance in the form of an mcr-1-gene-bearing plasmid has been recently reported in Enterobacteriaceae in several parts of the world. We report here the completed genome sequence of an Escherichia coli strain isolated from swine in the United States that carried the mcr-1 gene on an IncI2-type plasmid.
We report here the incidental detection and complete genome sequence of a urinary Escherichia coli strain harboring mcr-1 and resistant to colistin in a New York patient returning from Portugal in 2016. This strain, with sequence type 1485 (ST1485), was a non-extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and non-carbapenemase producer and carried the mcr-1 gene on an IncHI2 plasmid.
Due to increasing rates of obesity and its comorbidities, there is tremendous interest in the central nervous system (CNS) control of energy balance. This basic science interest is guided in part by the need to develop effective drugs for the overweight and the obese patient. Despite a large literature, our understanding of the circuits and neurochemical receptors that mediate energy balance is...
The production rates (PR) and the metabolic clearance rates (MCR) of human follicle-stimulating hormone (HFSH) were determined in six pre- and five postmenopausal women. Human FSH (PER-780) labeled with (131)I to specific activities of 50-150 muc/mug was used as a tracer. Both double antibody and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) precipitation techniques were used to determine HFSH-(131)I levels in in...
To investigate the prevalence of the recently emerging colistin resistance gene mcr-1 in Enterobacteriaceae among companion animals, we examined 566 isolates collected from cats and dogs in Beijing, China, during 2012-2016. Of these isolates, 49 (8.7%) were mcr-1-positive.
in this research, gold nanoparticles were synthesized and functionalized by the antibody of aflatoxins. the quenching of the fluorescence of excitation emission matrices (eem) of two type of aflatoxins (b1, g1), provoked by the gold nanoparticles, was studied by principal component analysis (pca) and multivariate curve resolution with alternating least squares (mcr-als). these aflatoxins show q...
The isolation of mutants of Staphylococcus aureus that are affected in the stability of penicillinase plasmids is described. One mutation is plasmid borne and results in nonreplication of the plasmid at 42 C. A second type of mutation is host-borne and gives rise to instability of both mcr(I) and mcr(II) penicillinase plasmids but not a tetracycline-resistant plasmid.
In 2015, plasmid-mediated colistin resistance was reported to be caused by a mobilized phosphoethanolamine transferase gene (mcr-1) in Enterobacteriaceae Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of the earliest d-tartrate-fermenting Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Paratyphi B isolate harboring mcr-1 from the collection of the German National Reference Laboratory for Salmonella.
A colistin-resistant mcr-1-carrying Escherichia coli strain, RC2-007, was isolated from a swine farm in Mexico. This extraintestinal and uropathogenic strain of E. coli belongs to serotype O89:H9 and sequence type 744. Assembly and annotation resulted in a 4.9-Mb draft genome that revealed the presence of plasmid-mediated mcr-1-ISApI1 genes as part of a prophage.
Of 150 Escherichia coli strains we cultured from specimens taken from cattle in Europe, 3 had elevated MICs against colistin. We assessed all 3 strains for the presence of the plasmid-mediated mcr-1 gene and identified 1 isolate as mcr-1-positive and co-resistant to β-lactam, florfenicol, and fluoroquinolone antimicrobial compounds.
