As a non-parametric method of relative efficient measurement of a group of decision-making units (〖DMU〗_s), Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is one of the most important tools in efficiency computation. One of the main concerns dealt with in DEA is dealing with return to scale in two-stage processes in which, produced outputs of the first stage inputs are used as inputs for the second stage. The...

The paper addresses the problem of scheduling in the two-stage flowshop with parallel unrelated machines and renewable resource constraints. The objective is minimization of makespan. The problem is NP-hard. Fast heuristic algorithms using list scheduling and greedy strategies are proposed. For evaluation of the performance of the algorithms computational experiments are performed on randomly g...

Two methods of creating schedules in a Random Keys Genetic Algorithm are investigated with regards to effectiveness. One uses job-to-machine assignments in the first stage as the chromosome, with a greedy heuristic to assign jobs to machines in later stages. The other method explicitly makes job-to-machine assignments in all stages.

In this paper, based on uncertainty theory, a new class of two-stage uncertain programming model is presented firstly, and its deterministic equivalent programming problem is also characterized. Then some fundamental properties of the two-stage uncertain programming problem, including the convexity of feasible set as well as objective function, are investigated. Since the complexity of programm...

Using the risk measure CV aR in financial analysis has become more and more popular recently. In this paper we apply CV aR for portfolio optimization. The problem is formulated as a two-stage stochastic programming model, and the SRA algorithm, a recently developed heuristic algorithm, is applied for minimizing CV aR.

This paper presents an investigation of a simple generic hyper-heuristic approach upon a set of widely used constructive heuristics (graph coloring heuristics) in timetabling. Within the hyperheuristic framework, a Tabu Search approach is employed to search for permutations of graph heuristics which are used for constructing timetables in exam and course timetabling problems. This underpins a m...

extended abstractintroduction:natural disasters management requires local information in order to be ready against dangers and reduce their procedure. hence, evaluation of landslide occurrence in the area which is prone to landslide due to geographical condition and human constructions is high crucial. ghale chai dam located at ajabshir watershed is one kind of such areas. so the aim of present...

This paper studies Knowledge Discovery (KD) using Tabu Search and Hill Climbing within Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) as a hyper-heuristic method for course timetabling problems. The aim of the hyper-heuristic is to choose the best heuristic(s) for given timetabling problems according to the knowledge stored in the case base. KD in CBR is a 2-stage iterative process on both case representation and ...

In this work, single-stage and two-stage tubular solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)/gas turbine hybrid cycles are comparatively examined from the energy and exergy viewpoints. For this purpose, mass, energy and exergy balances are applied to all components of the cycles. The behavior of tubular solid oxide fuel cell modeled in this study is validated with the experimental test data of tubular SOFC de...
