Basis Technology participated in the TAC Entity-Link task of the Knowledge Base Population track at TAC 2013. This paper describes the system we developed and runs submitted for English, Chinese, and Spanish evaluation. The system is an extended and improved version of the system used in TAC 2012. We focus on the novel components and error analysis.

S. Monajem,

When rails are laid in a railway track, small gaps are left between the ends of adjoining rails to allow for the expansion of the rails when the temperature rises. Rail joints are provided to form a continuous rail path which are normally laid in standard lengths bolted together by fishplates. When two rail joints are exactly opposing each other, they are called square &#10&#10(side by side) jo...

ArvandHerd is a sequential satisficing planner that uses a portfolio consisting of LAMA and Arvand. This planner won the multi-core track of the 2011 International Planning Competition. In this paper, we describe the various components of ArvandHerd, the updates made for the 2014 competition, and the modifications that allow ArvandHerd to compete in the single-core sequential satisficing tracks.

This paper describes our entry into the TREC 2011 Web track. We extracted and ranked results from the ClueWeb09 corpus using a parallel processing pipeline that avoids the generation of an inverted file. We describe the components of the parallel architecture and the pipeline, how we ran the TREC experiments, and we present effectiveness results.

This paper develops methods for associating two sets of sensor tracks in the presence of missing tracks and translation bias. Key results include (1) Extension of the Maximum A Posteriori Probability method of matching tracks to use feature information as well as kinematic information; (2) translation bias removal techniques that are computationally tractable for large numbers of tracks, and ef...

This paper presents a easy to read review of the architectures for track-to-track fusion (T2TF). Based on whether the fusion algorithm uses the track estimates from the previous fusion and the configuration of information feedback, T2TF is categorized into six configurations, namely, T2TF with no memory with no, partial and full information feedback, and T2TF with memory with no, partial and fu...

Secreted peroxidases are well-known components of damage-induced defense responses in plants. A recent study in Nature (Turrà et al., 2015) has revealed that these enzymes can inadvertently serve as reporters of wounded sites and constitute an "Achilles heel," allowing adapted pathogens to track and enter host tissue.
