This paper presents a semi-analytical approximation for a two-dimensional (2D) tension analysis of submarine cables during laying operations. In the analysis, based on geometric compatibility relations and equilibrium equations, a set of non-linear differential equations are obtained. The present model considers effects of ocean currents, cable ship motion, pay-out rate, water depth and materia...

An index system for the health-status evaluation of cable-stayed bridges is presented based on a set of dissimilarity measures (abbr. DM) of the cable force of grouped cables. The DMs and its corresponding health status labels derived by the serviceability limit states of a bridge are determined by the combination of the finite element method and the influence matrix method. The Monte-Carlo met...

This memo defines a portion of the Management Information Base (MIB) for use with network management protocols in the Internet community. In particular, it defines a basic set of managed objects for Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)-based management of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS)-compliant Cable Modems and Cable Modem Termination Systems. This memo obsoletes...

This paper describes the analysis of the over voltage phenomena at the motor terminal of an inverter fed induction motor. The high frequency model for a three phase cable and induction motor is simulated using Simulink and analyzed for the over voltage for different cable length. The results indicate that the over voltage is a function of cable length and it also depends on gauge of the cable.

Distributed Feature Composition (DFC) is a new component-based architecture for telecommunication services. Its principles are similar to the well-known pipe-and-filter architecture, adapted for use in the telecommunication domain. We present an overview of this architecture and explain how it might be used as a basis for componentbased development of telecommunication software. We also describ...

In the referenced paper [ 11, the author examines the stability of the planar, linear response of a suspended cable subjected to harmonic axial loading. The study is motivated by a desire to understand the dynamic stability of cables employed in structures such as cablestayed bridges or guy-towers. In these applications, the harmonic axial load derives from the dynamic reaction of the structure...

Cable modems based on Data-Over-Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) provide broadband Internet access to over one hundred million users worldwide. In some cases, the cable modem connection is the bottleneck (lowest speed) link between the customer and the Internet. As a result, the impact of buffering and bufferbloat in the cable modem can have a significant effect on user experienc...

ABSTRACT: An intensive research work is carried out to determine the effect of humidity and contamination on cable termination and it’s aging. In this paper, the effect of atmospheric conditions on cable termination has been investigated by measurement of discharge inception voltage, discharge magnitude, dielectric loss and capacitance of each phase of cable. The three possible conditions i.e n...

A method for forecasting the outage frequency of cable sections including the influence of repair-joint increase is presented. Time series of joint numbers are processed by a computation procedure applying aging models for cable sections and joints. The methods were tested using data of a real-life medium voltage cable network. It could be shown that outage frequency of cable sections can be su...
