Accurate localization of multiple sound sources is indispensable for the microphone array-based high quality sound capture. For single sound source localization, the CSP (Cross-power Spectrum Phase analysis) method has been proposed. The CSP method localizes a sound source as a crossing point of sound directions estimated using di erent microphone pairs. However, when localizing multiple sound ...

‏‎applications such as high definition viedeo reproduction, portable computers, wireless, and multimedia demand, and ever-increasing need for ligh-frequency high-resolution and low-power analog-to-digital converters. flash, two-step flash, and pipeline convertors are fast but consume large amount of power and require large area. to overcome these problems, successive approximation converter blo...

many mobile and off-grid devices include electronics and other electrical consumers like servo drives, which need a quite low supply power. since the price for photovoltaic modules drops continuously, photovoltaic power supply is interesting in more and more applications. in solar powered systems, a battery is needed to store energy for the night and cloudy periods. the power electronics of suc...

The European Union energy label, which provides information on the energy consumption of household appliances, has proven its reliability for the customers in recent years. However, a label for the product sound perception, which can be very useful for the customers but also manufacturers, is not available up to now. The energy label is required to include the sound power level of the devices. ...

The power amplifiers in a sound system will be responsible for increasing the input to a certain level at which the speaker can play audio in a space with adequate sound pressure. When these spaces are wide, it takes a lot of pressure and this requires a high power, which should be given to the speaker without causing a variation in the pattern of the input signal. To achieve this goal is mainl...

In this paper, we propose enhanced constant power panning (CPP) law which improves sound localization accuracy for two channel and multi-channel surround speaker layouts. Conventional CPP laws have different sound direction from panning angle, especially when the speakers are spread out widely. To overcome this drawback, we define a target angle and derive it by using directional psychoacoustic...

The interaction of conduction electrons with a longitudinal sound wave propagating in a crystal in a constant magnetic field is investigated. It is shown that the transverse spin current arises when the longitudinal sound wave propagation through the system. The average power absorbed by the spin subsystem of the conduction electrons and the spin-Hall conductivity have a resonant character.

This paper compares the sound power and vibration levels for two different soundboards for upright pianos. One of them is made of laminated spruce and the other of solid spruce (tone-wood). These differ also in the number of ribs and manufacturing procedure. The methodology used is defined in two major steps: (i) acoustic power due to a unit force is obtained reciprocally by measuring the accel...

Innovations in physics and its applications often enable medical advances. Collaboration between physicists who developed a high-frame-rate ultrasound system and cardiovascular investigators has allowed non-invasive measurement of vascular and myocardial stiffness. In this current issue of the European Heart Journal— Cardiovascular Imaging, members of these groups, using a related technology, h...
