Here u,π ,n and p denote the fluid velocity field, scalar pressure, cell concentration, and oxygen concentration, respectively. The functions f (p) and r(p) are two given smooth functions of p denoting the oxygen consumption rate and chemotactic sensitivity, respectively. The function φ denotes the potential function. When φ = , system (.) and (.) reduces to the well-known Euler system, Fe...
The beta function of a two-dimensional massless Dirac Hamiltonian subject to a random scalar potential, which, e.g., underlies theoretical descriptions of graphene, is computed numerically. Although it belongs to, from a symmetry standpoint, the two-dimensional symplectic class, the beta function monotonically increases with decreasing conductance. We also provide an argument based on the spect...
We compute the ground state energy of a massive scalar field in the background of a cylindrical shell whose potential is given by a delta function. The zero point energy is expressed in terms of the Jost function of the related scattering problem, the renormalization is performed with the help of the heat kernel expansion. The energy is found to be negative for attractive and for repulsive back...
N = 2 closed strings have been recently divided in hep-th/0211147 to two T-dual families denoted by α and β. In (2, 2) signature both families have one scalar in the spectrum. The scalar in the β-string is known to be a deformation of the target space Kähler potential and the dynamics is that of self-dual gravity. In this paper we compute the effective action of the scalar in the α-string. The ...
A derivative expansion of the Wegner-Houghton equation is derived for a scalar theory. The corresponding full non-perturbative renormalization group equations for the potential and the wavefunction renormalization function are presented. We also show that the two loop perturbative anomalous dimension for the O(N) theory can be obtained by means of a polynomial truncation in the field dependence...
We study the Calabi-Yau equation on symplectic manifolds. We show that Donaldson’s conjecture on estimates for this equation in terms of a taming symplectic form can be reduced to an integral estimate of a scalar potential function. Under a positive curvature condition, we show that the conjecture holds.
We consider the existence of a Noether symmetry in the scalar-tensor theory of gravity in flat Friedman Robertson Walker (FRW) cosmology. The forms of coupling function ω(φ) and generic potential V (φ) are obtained by requiring the existence of a Noether symmetry for such theory. We derive exact cosmological solutions of the field equations from a point-like Lagrangian.
We point out that extended gravity theories, the Lagrangian of which is an arbitrary function of scalar curvature R, are equivalent to a class of the scalar tensor theories of gravity. The corresponding gravity theory is ω = 0 BransDicke gravity with a potential for the Brans-Dicke scalar field, which is not compatible with solar system experiments if the field is very light: the case when such...
in new management approaches, in the organizations with inflexible structure, existing of red tapes and interruptions caused by limitations and also non-compliance with environmental changes, create demotivation among staff. with regard to the influence of job motivational potential and its relationship to the type of organizational structure( enabling and dissuasive), the goal of this research...
The anomalous scaling in the Kraichnan model of advection of the passive scalar by a random velocity field with non-smooth spatial behavior is traced down to the presence of slow resonance-type collective modes of the stochastic evolution of fluid trajectories. We show that the slow modes are organized into infinite multiplets of descendants of the primary conserved modes. Their presence is lin...
