HQ-learning is a hierarchical extension of Q()-learning designed to solve certain types of partially observable Markov decision problems (POMDPs). HQ automatically decomposes POMDPs into sequences of simpler subtasks that can be solved by memoryless policies learn-able by reactive subagents.
