In this paper, we study and optimize the aggregate query processing in a highly distributed Cloud Data Warehouse, where each database stores a subset of relational data in a star-schema. Existing aggregate query processing algorithms focus on optimizing various query operations but give less importance to communication cost overhead (Two-phase algorithm). However, in cloud architectures, the co...

We propose a robust, object-based approach to high-resolution image reconstruction from video using the projections onto convex sets (POCS) framework. The proposed method employs a validity map and/or a segmentation map. The validity map disables projections based on observations with inaccurate motion information for robust reconstruction in the presence of motion estimation errors; while the ...

The paper presented here addresses the problem of path planning in real time strategy games. We have proposed a new algorithm titled Map Abstraction with Adjustable Time Bounds. This algorithm uses an abstract map containing non-uniformly sized triangular sectors; the centroids of the sectors guide the path search in the game map. In a pre-processing step we calculate an upper and lower time li...

Map building is one of the most popular classical problems in mobile robotics field and sensor model is the way to interpret raw sensory information in spatial world especially for building map. For mobile robots, working in indoor environment, Ultrasonic Sonar(US) is famous because of its availability, wide angle and long range sensing ability etc, in spite of some problems. Among them, Specul...

As the amount of available RDF data continues to increase steadily, there is growing interest in developing efficient methods for analyzing such data. While recent efforts have focused on developing efficient methods for traditional data processing, analytical processing which typically involves more complex queries has received much less attention. The use of cost effective parallelization tec...

There are many efficient tools significantly uses Map Reduce applications that assigns data with their corresponding tasks in parallel and distributed data processing. LIBRA symbolizes the lightweight problems of data skew with input data applications that can overlap map and reduce strategies. This is one of the innovative and accurate distribution methods for intermediate data sampling with n...

Large-scale data analysis applications require processing and analyzing of Terabytes or even Petabytes of data, particularly in the areas of web analysis or scientific data management. This trend has been discussed as “web-scale data management” in a panel at VLDB 2009. Formerly, parallel data processing was the domain of parallel database systems. Today, novel requirements like scaling out to ...

This paper presents and compares approaches of estimating true area on the ground and calibrating quantitative errors of area estimate on categorical maps from the contingency table. Results directly estimated from the contingency table and those from two calibration methods were compared on two maps of 10 different land cover classes with known errors between them. The estimated true area perc...

Our NEWS 2015 shared task submission is a PBSMT based transliteration system with the following corpus preprocessing enhancements: (i) addition of wordboundary markers, and (ii) languageindependent, overlapping character segmentation. We show that the addition of word-boundary markers improves transliteration accuracy substantially, whereas our overlapping segmentation shows promise in our prel...

Tactile maps are the standard media to convey geographical information to blind people. An approach for an interactive substitute for tactile maps is presented, called virtual tactile maps. It is based on an image processing system tracking fingers and game piece-like objects. Output is done through speech and sound. Users learn routes by constructing them with route bricks.
