In grid-forming control, the swing equation of a synchronous machine is emulated by power controller. Thereby, frequency droop, power-oscillation damping, and/or virtual inertia can be obtained. this letter, it shown that phase-locked loop—which normally grid following—can designed so as to, in turn, emulate generic controller, thus, becoming grid-forming.
-This paper presents the application of fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering in the order reduction of dynamic models for controller design in a power system. Based on the fuzzy c-means algorithm, a method is proposed for clustering the poles and zeros of the original power system model into new clusters from which a reduced-order model can be obtained. Then the reduced-order model is used to design ...
Although the virtual synchronous generator provides a grid-friendly operational mode for power converters, it may also introduce disadvantages similar to traditional such as oscillation in parallel due large inertia. This article proposes an additional damping strategy suppress oscillation. After analyzing relationship between output and angular acceleration, is designed by acceleration control...
The magnitude of the phase difference between inducers' oscillation of a kinetic illusory surface influences visual material impressions (Masuda et al., 2013). For example, impressions of bending or waving motions on a surface tend to occur at a 30- or 90-deg. phase difference, respectively. Here, we elucidate whether amplitude and frequency changes in an inducer's oscillation influence the vis...
We study the neutrino oscillation problem in the framework of the wave packet formalism. The neutrino state is described by a packet located initially in a region S (source) and detected in another region D at a distance R from S. We examine how the oscillation probability as a function of variable R can be derived from he oscillation probability as a function of time t, the latter being found ...
This paper introduces a fuzzy controller as a power system stabilizer used to damp inter-area modes of oscillation following disturbances in power system. The fuzzy-logic power system stabilizer (FPSS) has been designed to provide a supplementary signal to the excitation system of the synchronous generator. The performance of FPSS, which is tuned automatically as the operating conditions of pow...
Power system stability control is a challenging task in power generation, transmission and distributions based applications and in many fields. Multi-machine power compensation control can achieve system stabilization within a prescribed time in conventional controller. However, limited time control cannot guarantee the system convergence within particular time independent on the initial condit...
In this paper, a new power frequency model for unified power flow controller (UPFC) is suggested with its dc link capacitor dynamics included. Four principal control strategies for UPFC series element main control and their impacts on system stability are discussed. The main control of UPFC series element can be realized as a combination of the four control functions. The supplementary control ...
Timely remote activation of frequency response, provided by converter-based generation, can improve the damping very low-frequency (VLF) oscillations. The research presented is based on both power system models and actual data from phasor measurement units (PMU) Irish system. performance active control (APC) investigated, variations in wind speed, droop, time lag resource capacity demonstrate t...
