Identifying the complete-linked molecular markers with target gene and mapping its chromosome locus is an important goal in plant breeding for gene cloning and marker-aided selection. Due to complexity of the interactions, in most of the agronomic traits, especially the interaction between the grain yield and the environmental factors, classic methods do not function appropriately in improving ...

Background The efficiency of plant breeding depends mainly on two actions of the breeder: creation and subsequent identification of superior genotypes. In both actions, selection plays a fundamental role in the definition of crosses to be performed, with interest in creating new genotypes and identifying superior trees to be used commercially. The great attraction of molecular tools for plant b...

In order to analyze variation and find an efficient selection approach, we used crossing results between two wheat cultivars, Azar2 and 87-Zhong291. F3 plants (374 lines) and four check cultivars planted in the form of augmented experiment. For germination, seeds were irrigated once. After using multiple statistics methods such as cluster analysis, 79 different lines were selected and used for ...

Genomic selection (GS) has become a very intense field of research during recent years. GS may be defined as the simultaneous selection for many (tens or hundreds of thousands of) markers, which cover the entire genome in a dense manner so that all genes are expected to be in linkage disequilibrium with at least some of the markers. In a sense, GS is marker assisted selection on a genome wide s...

Competence-stimulating peptide (CSP) and ComD of the streptococcal species are a pheromone and its receptor, respectively, involved in the regulation of competence for natural genetic transformation. We show here that these molecules have undergone positive selection. This study is the first report of positive selection due to competition among bacterial populations.

This paper studies the urban land market in China in 2003-2007. In China, all urban land is owned by the state. Leasehold use rights for land for (re)development are sold by city governments and are a key source of city revenue. Leasehold sales are viewed as a major venue for corruption, prompting a number of reforms over the years. Reforms now require all leasehold rights be sold at public auc...

The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using aminoglycoside 2″-O-phosphotransferase aph(2″) gene as a positive selection marker in N. asteroides, M. smegmatis, abscessus and tuberculosis. gene, known confer resistance tobramycin, was PCR amplified from farcinica cloned into two plasmid vectors, pMSG383 pDB151, harboring hygromycin zeocin markers, respectively. recombinant plasmi...

Drought stress is one of the major yield constraints for cereal crops. Traditionally, for developing drought tolerant cultivars, selection either direct or indirect is practiced. Although this approach is effective, yet time consuming and labour intensive. Identification of drought related quantitative trait loci (QTLs) coupled with marker assisted selection has shown some positive results. Tra...
