Terthienobenzene (TTB, 6) was prepared through a new, high yield route along with pi-extended derivatives 10 and 11. A conjugated poly(fluorene-thiophene) donor and a tethered phenanthro[9,10-d]imidazole acceptor (PFT-PI) was used as the active layer in flexible nonvolatile resistor memory devices with low threshold voltages (±2 V), low switching powers (∼100 μW cm(-2)), large ON/OFF memory windows (10(4)), good retention (>10(4) s) and excellent endurance against electric and mechanical stimulus.

We report highly efficient organic photosensitizers containing pi-conjugated alkoxy-substituted oligophenylenevinylene linkers with electron donor-acceptor units for dye-sensitized solar cells. TA-DM-CA showed an overall solar-to-energy conversion efficiency of 9.67% at AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW cm(-2)).

Prussian blue nanoparticles (PB NPs), stabilized for the first time by the pi-conjugated polymer poly(4-(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-2yl-methoxy-1-butanesulfonic acid, potassium salt) (PEDOT-S), demonstrated a novel multiple-color pH-sensing function with a redox reaction based on the electronic interaction between the PB nano-core and the PEDOT-S shell.

A light absorbing pi-conjugated oligomer-tetrafullerene nanoarray has been synthesized and its photophysical study reveals the presence of an intramolecular energy transfer. A phototovoltaic device fabricated from this nanoarray and poly(3-hexylthiophene) shows an external quantum efficiency of 15% at 500 nm.
