in the present investigation the biosorption potential of rosa gruss an teplitz (red rose) waste biomass (rrwb) for the removal of pb(ii) and co(ii) from aqueous solutions was studied. the effect of different process parameters such as ph, biosorbent dose, biosorbent size, temperature, contact time, initial metal concentration and pretreatments on the biosorption capacity of this waste biomass ...
Transition metal-transporting P1B-type CPx ATPases play crucial roles in mediating metal homeostasis and resistance in all cells. The degree to which N-terminal metal binding domains (MBDs) confer metal specificity to the transporter is unclear. We show that the two MBDs of the Zn/Cd/Pb effluxing pump Anabaena AztA are functionally nonequivalent, but only with respect to zinc resistance. Inacti...
A three-sensor array consisting of a graphite-epoxy composite electrode (GEC), 4-carboxybenzo-18-crown-6-GEC and 4carboxybenzo-15-crown-5-GEC was employed for the simultaneous determination of Cd(II), Pb(II) and Hg(II) by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). Sensors were firstly studied for the determination of Hg(II); secondly, peak current responses confirmed that all sens...
Manganese oxide-modified biochars: preparation, characterization, and sorption of arsenate and lead.
This work explored two modification methods to improve biochar's ability to sorb arsenic (As) and lead (Pb). In one, pine wood feedstock was pyrolyzed in the presence of MnCl2·4H2O (MPB) and in the other it was impregnated with birnessite via precipitation following pyrolysis (BPB). The resulting biochars were characterized using thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectros...
The new class of homo- and heteroleptic n-butyl-N,N'-disubstituted amidinato group 14 metal(II) complexes were prepared by salt elimination from starting lithium amidinates and metal(II) chlorides both in stoichiometric ratio 2:1 and 1:1, respectively. The target amidinates contain less bulky isopropyl or cyclohexyl as well as a sterically demanding aromatic substituent. Desired 1:1 Pb(II) comp...
The adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) by squid melanin was investigated. At a metal ion concentration of 2 mM/L, the biosorption efficiency of melanin reached 95% for Cd(II) and Pb(II). The maximum content of bound Cd(II) and Pb(II) was 0.93 mM/g and 0.65 mM/g, respectively. Temperature had no obvious effect on the adsorption of the metals, and in a pH range of 4.0-7.0, the adsorption yield was h...
Reduced graphene oxide-supported nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI/rGO) composites were prepared by chemical deposition method and were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, N₂-sorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Operating parameters for the removal process of Pb(II) ions, such as temperature (20-40 °C), pH (3-5), initi...
In the title complex, [Pb(C(8)H(9)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), the eight-coordinate Pb(II) atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and adopts a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic N(2)O(6) coordination geometry. The ligand donor atoms are the tertiary N atoms of the imidazole rings and the carboxyl-ate O atoms of two chelating 5-carb-oxy-2-propyl-1H-imidazole-4-carboxyl-ate ligands, the carb-o...
The carboxyl-ate dianion in the title compound, [Pb(C(14)H(8)O(5))(C(19)H(12)N(4)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, uses one carboxyl-ate group to O,O'-chelate a bis-[4-(1H-1,3,7,8-tetra-azacyclo-penta-[l]phen-anthren-2-yl)phenol]-chelated Pb(II) atom and uses its other carboxyl-ate group to bind to another Pb(II) atom in an irregular monodentate manner. The Pb(II) atom exists in an undefined seven-coordinate geom...
