There is an epidemiological inverse relationship between Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and Crohn's disease (CD). However, whether H. pylori plays a protective role against CD remains unclear. Since 2, 4, 6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-induced colitis is thought to resemble CD, we investigated whether H. pylori can attenuate TNBS-induced colitis in mice. Here we show that H. ...

Transcription suppressor Musculin (MSC) is enriched in pro-inflammatory Th17 and IL-22-producing ILC3s. While MSC+/+ mice survived DSS-induced colitis, MSC−/− showed elevated cytokines with severer pathology, reduced body weight, earlier death. Reversal of colitis symptoms by IL-22 antagonism suggests the existence MSC:IL-22 regulatory axis.

This study investigated the effects of royal jelly (RJ) on acetic acid-induced colitis in rats. Twenty adult female Wistar albino rats were divided into four treatment groups of 5 animals each, including a control group (Group I); Group II was treated orally with RJ (150 mg kg(-1) body weight); Group III had acetic acid-induced colitis; and Group IV had acetic acid-induced colitis treated orall...

The title compound, C(19)H(17)NO(5), was synthesized as part of a continuing project involving the structures of oxazolone derivatives. The mol-ecule adopts a Z configuration about the central olefinic bond. The 2-phenyl ring is slightly twisted out of the plane of the oxazolone ring system by 11.2 (2)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Prostaglandin E2 plays important roles in the maintenance of colonic homeostasis. The recently identified prostaglandin E receptor (EP) 4-associated protein (EPRAP) is essential for an anti-inflammatory function of EP4 signaling in macrophages in vitro. To investigate the in vivo roles of EPRAP, we examined the effects of EPRAP on colitis and colitis-associated tumorigenesis. In mice, EPRAP def...
