We propose a theoretical model to describe the strain-induced linear electro-optic (Pockels) effect in centro-symmetric crystals. The general formulation is presented and the specific case of the strained silicon is investigated in detail because of its attractive properties for integrated optics. The outcome of this analysis is a linear relation between the second order susceptibility tensor a...

In this paper, a photonic crystal structure for comparing two bits has beenproposed. This structure includes four resonant rings and some nonlinear rods. Thenonlinear rods used inside the resonant rings were made of a doped glass whose linearand nonlinear refractive indices are 1.4 and 10-14 m2/W, respectively. Using Kerr effect, optical waves are guided toward the correc...

Lithography, the fundamental fabrication process of semiconductor devices, is playing a critical role nowadays in the fabrication of microand nano-structures especially for the realization of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), microfluidic devices, photonic crystals, photonic integrated circuits, micro-optics, and plasmonic optoelectronic devices. These devices have various practical appl...

in this thesis, structural, electronical, and optical properties of inverse pervskite(ca3pbo) in cubic phase have been investigated.the calculation have been done based on density functional theory and according to generalized gradiant approximate (gga) as correlating potential. in order to calculate the configurations, implementing in the wien2k code have been used from 2013 version. first of ...

We present the first three-dimensional (3D) data sets recorded using optical coherence elastography (OCE). Uni-axial strain rate was measured on human skin in vivo using a spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) system providing >450 times higher line rate than previously reported for in vivo OCE imaging. Mechanical excitation was applied at a frequency of 125 Hz using a ring actuato...

Introduction The change in shape of a wavefront passing through or being reflected from an optical system, compared to the incident wavefront is an indication of the quality of the optical components. A quality indicator is the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of the image. There are two common methods of measuring MTF in optical components in systems: Fourier transform of measured linespread...

Time-asymmetric state-evolution properties while encircling an exceptional point are presently of great interest in search of new principles for controlling atomic and optical systems. Here, we show that encircling-an-exceptional-point interactions that are essentially reciprocal in the linear interaction regime make a plausible nonlinear integrated optical device architecture highly nonrecipro...

Optical complex fields have attracted increasing interests because of the novel effects and phenomena arising from the spatially inhomogeneous state of polarizations and optical singularities of the light beam. In this work, we propose a spiral blade plasmonic vortex lens (SBPVL) that offers unique opportunities to manipulate these novel fields. The strong interaction between the SBPVL and the ...

Holographic optical traps use the forces exerted by computer-generated holograms to trap, move and otherwise transform mesoscopically textured materials. This article introduces methods for optimizing holographic optical traps' efficiency and accuracy, and an optimal statistical approach for characterizing their performance. This combination makes possible real-time adaptive optimization.

Holographic or diffractive optical components are widely implemented using spatial light modulators within optical tweezers to form multiple, and/or modified traps. We show that by further modifying the hologram design to account for residual aberrations, the fidelity of the focused beams can be significantly improved, quantified by a spot sharpness metric. However, the impact this improvement ...
