The title compound, [Nd(OH)(SO(4))](n), was obtained hydro-thermally from an aqueous solution of neodymium nitrate, 1,2-propane-diamine and sulfuric acid. The structure features nona-coordinated neodymium with sulfate and hydroxide anions acting as bridging ligands. The OH group forms a weak O-H⋯O hydrogen bond with an O⋯O distance of 3.224 (5) Å.

The conversion of cholesterol into the more polar metabolites 27-hydroxycholesterol (27-OH) and cholestenoic acid by the cytochrome P450 sterol 27-hydroxylase is a cholesterol-removal mechanism used by almost all cells. Most of the cholestenoic acid present in the circulation originates from the lung, and it has been suggested that sterol 27-hydroxylase is of particular importance for cholester...

All-trans-retinoic acid (atRA), the active metabolite of vitamin A, induces gene transcription via binding to nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RARs). The primary hydroxylated metabolites formed from atRA by CYP26A1, and the subsequent metabolite 4-oxo-atRA, bind to RARs and potentially have biologic activity. Hence, CYP26A1, the main atRA hydroxylase, may function either to deplete bioactive re...

Glaucous gulls (Larus hyperboreus) from Svalbard, Norway (marine), and herring gulls (Larus argentatus) from the Laurentian Great Lakes (freshwater) of North America are differentially exposed to persistent and bioaccumulative anthropogenic contaminants, such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants and metabolic products. Such compounds can ...

To elucidate the pathophysiological role of the hydroxyl radical (.OH) during the postischemic reperfusion of the heart, we measured the .OH product in the coronary effluent from isolated perfused rat heart during a 30-minute reperfusion period after various ischemic intervals of 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, and 60 minutes. Salicylic acid was used as the probe for .OH, and its derivative, 2,5-dihydroxybe...

The corrosion of steel reinforcement is the most significant factor responsible for premature deterioration durability and seismic resistance reinforced concrete structures. As such, main objective present study investigation effect fly ash (FA) as a inhibitor pH on electrochemical behavior 316L 304L in simulating pore solution exposed to aggressive environments, i.e., acid rain. performance st...

Background: Differentiating oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) into oligodendrocytes could be improved by inhibiting signaling pathways such as Wnt and Notch. 9-cis-retinoic acid (9-cis-RA) and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1,25[OH]2D3) can ameliorate oligodendrogenesis. We investigated whether they could increase oligodendrogenesis by inhibiting the Wnt and Notch signaling pathways. Methods: Co...
