In this new age of radioactive beams for nuclear physics research, it is timely to reflect on the enduring role of nuclear isomers, i.e. excited, metastable states of nuclei. Heroic experiments with tiny quantities of isomer targets point the way towards the wide vistas of isomer beams, and new possibilities confront our ingenuity at the interface between nuclear and atomic physics. It is the r...

New nuclear nations are more prone to militarized conflict, though the overall effect of nuclear weapons on conventional disputes is neutral (Horowitz 2009, Gartzke & Jo 2009). Several processes might explain the non-linear relationship between proliferation and conflict. Nominal nuclear status could constitute a capability shock, altering the balance of power and increasing the probability of ...

Abstract PUMA, antiProton Unstable Matter Annihilation, is a nuclear-physics experiment at CERN aiming probing the surface properties of stable and rare isotopes by use low-energy antiprotons. Low-energy antiprotons offer very unique sensitivity to neutron proton densities annihilation site, i.e. in tail nuclear density. Today, no facility provides collider radioactive ions antiprotons: while n...

Aberrant epigenetic nuclear reprogramming results in low somatic cloning efficiency. Altering epigenetic status by applying histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) enhances developmental potential of somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) embryos. The present study was carried out to examine the effects of Oxamflatin, a novel HDACi, on the nuclear reprogramming and development of bovine SCNT embry...

Nuclear reactors are an essential source of neutrinos. In this proceeding, I review the past and current status research on neutrino oscillations using reactor also present a promising idea for positron tagging that will potentially be game-changer in field.

The extent to which malignant cells deviate from normal is generally accepted to be a prognostic indicator. However, assessing the degree of deviation has been subjective and poorly reproducible. Our goal is to develop a computer program for objectively measuring nuclear size, shape, and texture from histologic slides and to make the program available on the Internet. We used this program to an...

background: the earlier atomic bomb explosion in hiroshima and nagasaki, and three worth mentioning nuclear accidents - detonation at fukushima daiichi nuclear plant, chernobyl nuclear fallout and an accident at three mile island nuclear power plant have made us more worried about the secure exploitation of nuclear energy. the central focus of this paper is to review radiation-mediated health e...

On April 13, 2021, the Japanese government officially decided to release Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into sea, which is harmful marine environment. Japan adjacent East China Sea. The Sea China’s main ecological aquaculture area. discharge of nuclear waste water in will inevitably have an impact on status aquatic product industry and trade. Based current situation products competitiven...

Nuclear forces can be systematically derived using effective chiral Lagrangians consistent with the symmetries of QCD. I review the status of the calculations for two-and three-nucleon forces and their applications in few-nucleon systems. I also address issues like the quark mass dependence of the nuclear forces and resonance saturation for four-nucleon operators.
