Programmed cell death is an important process during the development and life of multicellular organisms. The process by which many cell types undergo programmed cell death is morphologically and mechanistically similar and has been termed apoptosis. To understand how cells achieve this conserved cell-death fate, we have analyzed the genetic control of downstream events in the cell-death proces...

The present study was aimed to identify the frequency of coagulase (Coa) and thermonuclease (Nuc) genes and Staphylococcal enterotoxin A (Sea) production among Staphylococcus aureus isolated from various sources in Shiraz. Moreover, the correlation between the Sea gene and coagulase and thermonuclease enzymes is also considered. A total of 100 S. aureus were isolated from various sources includ...

We describe a new corticioid species Lyomyces denudatus based on morphological and molecular data (nuc rDNA ITS). It occurs both in the extreme south of South America New Zealand. Our phylogenetic analyses place it near L. densiusculus from Africa fimbriatus East Asia. In addition, we comment status leptocystidiatus fumosus.

The homobasidiomycetes includes the mushroom-forming fungi. Members of the homobasidiomycetes produce the largest, most complex fruiting bodies in the fungi, such as gilled mushrooms ("agarics"), boletes, polypores, and puffballs. The homobasidiomycetes also includes species that produce minute, cup- or tube-shaped "cyphelloid" fruiting bodies, that rarely exceed 1-2 mm diameter. The goal of th...

Over the years, with the advancement in hematology analyzer technology, the use of fluid analysis method has seen a drastic increase in clinical examinations. Cell counting and classification in independent body fluid analysis method are conducted by semiconductor laser flow cytometry and nucleic acid fluorescence staining techniques. This study is to evaluate the efficacy of Sysmex XN-1000 hem...

Synthetic oligonucleotide primers of 21 and 24 bases, respectively, were used in the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to amplify a sequence of the nuc gene, which encodes the thermostable nuclease of Staphylococcus aureus. A DNA fragment of approximately 270 bp was amplified from lysed S. aureus cells or isolated DNA. The PCR product was detected by agarose gel electrophoresis or Southern blot a...

BACKGROUND Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are attractive tools to deliver therapeutic molecules at the mucosal level. The model LAB Lactococcus lactis has been intensively used to produce and deliver such heterologous proteins. However, compared to recombinant lactococci, lactobacilli offer some advantages such as better survival in the digestive tract and immunomodulatory properties. Here, we comp...
