In a hospital and health center-based study in Nicaragua, fluid intake during the 24 hours before being seen by a clinician was statistically associated with decreased risk for hospitalization of dengue fever patients. Similar results were obtained for children <15 years of age and older adolescents and adults in independent analyses.

The genus Pyrochlora Warren is revised and three new species are described: P. motilonia, sp. nov. from Costa Rica and Nicaragua, P. kuklase, sp. nov. from mountainous Ecuador, and P. vogli, sp. nov. from Northern Venezuela. Wings pattern and genitalic structures of all five species are described and illustrated.

A new species of Pseudachorutes is described and illustrated from Nicaragua. Pseudachorutes nicasp. n. is very easy to distinguish from other members of this genus from Central America, because its chaetotaxy consists of macro and microsetae and a postantennal organ with multiple vesicles (close to 20).
