A Digital Microfluidic Biochip (DMFB) offers a promising platform for medical diagnostics, DNA sequencing, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and drug discovery and development. Conventional Drug discovery procedures require timely and costly manned experiments with a high degree of human errors with no guarantee of success. On the other hand, DMFB can be a great solution for miniaturization, int...

In this paper we show the feasibility on using silicon batch-fabricated non planar microsized aperture for the monitoring of membrane proteins inserted in a lipid bilayer reconstituted on this aperture. A low cost chemical etching protocol was used for micromachining the pore. This work is a first step towards integrated silicon biochips designed for membrane protein recording.

The optimal design of structures and systems described by partial differential equations (PDEs) often gives rise to large-scale optimization problems, in particular if the underlying system of PDEs represents a multiscale, multiphysics problem. Therefore, reduced order modeling techniques such as balanced truncation model reduction (BTMR), proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), or reduced basis...

UNLIKE the traditional usage models for embedded systems security, nowadays, emerging computing systems are embedded in every aspect of human lives. One of the emerging usage models in which security is vital is deeplyembedded computing systems in human bodies, e.g., implantable and wearable medical devices. In addition to the security threats to traditional embedded systems, emerging deeply-em...
