In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(15)H(15)NO, the two benzene rings are twisted from each other by a dihedral angle of 47.97 (4)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions, and π-π inter-actions with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.8493 (5) Å are observed.

Ketone-prone diabetes (KPD) is considered one of the atypical diabetes syndromes because its presentation can lead to misdiagnosis of the type of diabetes. Patients with KPD present in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), but once the DKA resolves, some patients can discontinue insulin and maintain adequate glycemic control with oral agents (1). Here, we present the case of a patient who was diagnosed ...

Ketosis, meaning elevation of D-beta-hydroxybutyrate (R-3hydroxybutyrate) and acetoacetate, has been central to starving man's survival by providing nonglucose substrate to his evolutionarily hypertrophied brain, sparing muscle from destruction for glucose synthesis. Surprisingly, D-beta-hydroxybutyrate (abbreviated "betaOHB") may also provide a more efficient source of energy for brain per uni...

In both solution and the solid phase, a variety of ketone oxime anions have been treated with 4-substituted-2-fluorobenzonitriles to give the corresponding nucleophilic aromatic substitution aryloxime adducts. Under aqueous acidic conditions, these adducts underwent cyclization to give the corresponding ketones. Suzuki and amide coupling reactions were also successfully performed on two resin-b...

[reaction: see text] The intramolecular 1,6-ketone/imide reductive coupling promoted by samarium diiodide competes favorably with an alternative 1,5-ketone/oxime ether coupling in a keto-oxime substrate derived from D-glucosamine N-protected with a phthalimido group. This pinacol coupling reaction affords new homochiral alpha-hydroxylactam scaffolds that could be useful in diversity-oriented sy...

Through a novel sequence of aminodiene Diels-Alder reactions, amidofurans 18a-c were converted to tricyclic ketones 21a-c in moderate to good yields. Ketone 21a could be converted to Uhlé's ketone (6) by cleaving the tert-butyl carbamate and oxidatively removing the methyl ester. Tricycle 21a readily underwent bromination to give 22. Formation of the corresponding enol triflate 25 followed by c...

In the title mol-ecule, C(13)H(16)O(4), the pyran ring is in a half-chair conformation. There is an intra-molecular hydrogen bond involving the ketone O atom and an H atom of a phenol group which forms an S(6) ring. The ketone O atom is also involved in an inter-molecular hydrogen bond with a different phenolic H atom of a symmetry-related mol-ecule, forming C(6) chains along the c-axis direction.

In poliovirus-infected HeLa-S3 cells, the protease inhibitors tolylsulfonyl-phenylalanyl chloromethyl ketone and iodoacetamide cause an accumulation of large precursor proteins, and they block viral RNA synthesis most probably via these products. Viral RNA polymerase activity can, however, be extracted by detergent containing buffer (Tris/Nonidet P-40, deoxycholate) from the inhibited cells. On...
