Metafunctions: proving them correct and using them eeciently as new proof procedures. In this paper we have presented how computational reeective capabilities and mechanized logical deduction can be integrated. We have explained how this integration is achieved in GETFOL, a theorem prover where a logical metatheory MT describes both the logical properties of the object theory OT and the code im...

BACKGROUND Access to skilled attendance at childbirth is crucial to reduce maternal and newborn mortality. Several different measures of geographic access are used concurrently in public health research, with the assumption that sophisticated methods are generally better. Most of the evidence for this assumption comes from methodological comparisons in high-income countries. We compare differen...

This paper presents the first fully-mechanized formalization of powerdomains, implemented in the HOLCF logic of the Isabelle theorem prover. The powerdomain library provides an abstract view of powerdomains to the user, hiding the complicated implementation details. The library also provides proof automation, in the form of sets of rewrite rules for solving equalities and inequalities on powerd...

|A speciication language used in the context of an eeective theorem prover can provide novel features that enhance precision and expressiveness. In particular, type-checking for the language can exploit the services of the theorem prover. We describe a feature called \predicate subtyping" that uses this capability and illustrate its utility as mechanized in PVS.

This very inexpensive method of estimating T(3) uptake, already described (Walther, 1971), uses only 0.1 ml of patient's serum and discriminates between thyrotoxicosis and myxoedema much better than the resin sponge method. It can readily be mechanized and the ;free thyroxine index' derived has normal limits of 3.0 to 8.0.
