We analyze the Farey spin chain, a one dimensional spin system with effective interaction decaying like the squared inverse distance. Using a polymer model technique, we show that when the temperature is decreased below the (single) critical temperature Tc = 1 2 , the magnetization jumps from zero to one.

This paper analyzes the steady state performance of an isolated 3-phase self excited induction generator (SEIG) feeding balanced resistive load. The effects of load admittance and excitation capacitance on magnetizing reactance, frequency, terminal voltage, currents have been shown in this paper. The equivalent circuit of SEIG has been analyzed by loop impedance method to develop circuit equati...

This study solves the problem of accurate detection internal faults and classification transients in a 5-bus interconnected system for Phase Angle Regulators (PAR) Power Transformers. The analysis prevents mal-operation differential relays case other than which include magnetizing inrush, sympathetic external with CT saturation, capacitor switching, non-linear load ferroresonance. A gradient bo...

FAN7340 is a single-channel boost controller that integrates an N-channel dimming MOSFET using Fairchild’s proprietary planar DMOS technology. The IC operates as a constant-current source for driving high-current LEDs. FAN7340 uses a current-mode control with programmable slope compensation to prevent sub-harmonic oscillation and provides protections such as Open-LED Protection (OLP) and Over-V...

Ferroresonance is a highly dynamic and nonlinear power quality phenomenon caused by nonlinear inductances in ferromagnetic materials and power system capacitances. It is notorious for causing severe damage to power systems. This paper carries out an investigation into single-phase transformer ferroresonance initiated by switching transients. A hysteretic core model is implemented which includes...

Ferroresonance is a highly destructive power quality phenomenon caused by complex oscillations generated by nonlinear magnetizing inductances in ferromagnetic materials and capacitive elements in power systems. In an effort to better understand ferroresonance and predict bifurcations and responses, an improved nonlinear transformer model for dynamic and steady-state operating conditions is deve...

It is well understood that induction motors draw higher currents during their starting operations than is the case under full load running conditions. Since the early days of induction motor availability, starting methods other than Direct-on-Line have been used, and in some cases mandated by Utilities, to reduce the effect of these high starting currents on the electrical distribution network....

This paper describes application of Rationalized Haar Transform and Block Pulse Function for digital protection of power transformers. Digital relay algorithms are developed to extract fundamental, second harmonic and fifth harmonic components. These components are then used for harmonic restraint differential protection of power transformers. The Block Pulse Function based method is computatio...
