Relaxation parameter estimation and brain activation detection are two main areas of study in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Relaxation parameters can be used to distinguish voxels containing different types of tissue whereas activation determines voxels that are associated with neuronal activity. In fMRI, the standard practice has been to dis...
Background and Purpose: The employment of Magnetic resonance (MR) in investigations of cerebral tissue in health and disease achieved during the last 3 decades great appreciation. Its spectacular results in MR imaging and spectroscopy are especially useful in the domain of brain
We report a case of mesoblastic nephroma detected prenatally by magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. MR imaging could provide valuable information about the origin and nature of a fetal abdominal mass and help define the relationship of the mass to adjacent structures.
Standard clinical MR images depend on magnetic resonance signals of hydrogen nuclei, which are present in very high concentrations in water and, to a lesser extent in lipids. Although other hydrogen-containing metabolites are present, their concentrations are too low to contribute significantly to the MR signal unless the water signal is suppressed. This can be achieved using a chemical-selecti...
We report a case of intraocular lymphoma in a 65-year-old man, 15 months after cardiac transplantation. On Magnetic Resonance (MR) images, the iris and the anterior chamber of the right eye were found to be involved with an enhancing soft-tissue lesion. To our knowledge, this is the first case of post-transplantation intraocular lymphoma evaluated with MR imaging.
We report the imaging findings in a case of fetal lymphangioma involving the retroperitoneum and right lower extremity, and diagnosed by ultrasonography and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging at 26 weeks of gestation. Prenatal ultrasonograms and T2-weighted single-shot fast spin-echo MR images clearly revealed an extensive, multilocular cystic mass with internal hemorrhage in the retroperitoneum e...
Four patients with Huntington disease were imaged using CT and inversion-recovery magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. In all four patients the caudate nucleus and corpus striatum were well demonstrated and noted to be atrophic. MR is believed to be superior to CT for imaging morphologic changes of Huntington disease.
cardiology. Current methods include chest X-ray, echocardiography, nuclear scintigraphy, and catheterisation-based invasive techniques. The proliferation of imaging has undoubtedly led to major advances in the specialty. If William Harvey were alive today, however, he might be the first to tell us that the current imaging methods have severe limitations and drawbacks, related to issues such as ...
