Supercurrent flow between two superconductors with different order parameters, a phenomenon known as the Josephson effect, can be achieved by inserting a non-superconducting material between two superconductors to decouple their wavefunctions. These Josephson junctions have been employed in fields ranging from digital to quantum electronics, yet their functionality is limited by the interface q...

In this paper we develop a mathematical model of Hele-Shaw flows in which two immiscible fluids react and form a gel-like phase at the interface, a phenomenon which has been observed in recent experiments. This phase significantly stiffens the interface. The interface is modeled as an elastic membrane which has a bending rigidity dependent on the local curvature. A dispersion relation is derive...

today the image of a permanent skeletal space of cities affected by some forces or mechanisms is put in time with social-economic development and while imposes a new face and perspective to physical anatomy of cities, and prepares field to changes in content and social- economic structures of cities too. simultaneously with quitting villages in order to settle in cities by villagers, the phen...

It has been recognized that even weakly coupled subduction zones may cause large interplate earthquakes leading to destructive tsunamis. The Ryukyu Trench is one of the best fields to study this phenomenon, since various slow earthquakes and tsunamis have occurred; yet the fault structure and seismic activity there are poorly constrained. Here we present seismological evidence from marine obser...

Interplay of spin, charge, orbital and lattice degrees of freedom in oxide heterostructures results in a plethora of fascinating properties, which can be exploited in new generations of electronic devices with enhanced functionalities. The paradigm example is the interface between the two band insulators LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 that hosts a two-dimensional electron system. Apart from the mobile charg...

We report a systematic investigation of interfacial thermal conductance (Gk) between few to tens -layered mechanical exfoliated molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) and crystalline silicon (c-Si). Based on Raman spectroscopy, we find Gk at room temperature increases with increased layer numbers of MoS2 from 0.974 MW m 2 K 1 to 68.6 MW m 2 K 1. The higher Gk of thicker samples reveals their better interf...

In area CA1 of hippocampal slices which are allowed to recover from slicing "in interface" and where recordings are carried out in interface, a single 1-sec train of 100-Hz stimulation triggers a short-lasting long-term potentiation (S-LTP), which lasts 1-2 h, whereas multiple 1-sec trains induce a long-lasting LTP (L-LTP), which lasts several hours. Moreover, the threshold and the features of ...

resonances are intrinsic characteristics of an elastic object, which are completely independent of thesource of excitation. the appropriate utilization of the information contained within the resonancespectra and the identification of the resonance frequencies of the object can be used as a potent toolfor material characterization. in this paper, a new mathematical model for the wave diffractio...

isotherm equation is one of the important scientific bases for adsorbent selection. there are different isotherms that do not account for an adsorbate, different chemisorption geometries on the nanoporous surface. it is interesting to introduce a general isotherm, which considers different chemisorption geometries of an adsorbate on nanoporous surfaces. in this study, an isotherm for non-dissoci...

The clinical and histologic experience with 30 patients who had Lucio’s phenomenon, and pure and primitive diffuse lepromatosis (Latapi’s lepromatosis) has been reviewed. The unanticipated clinical findings were a male to female ratio of nearly 1:1, a 21 month median time of onset of erythema nodosum leprosum (Type 2 reaction) after starting antibacterial treatment, and an absence of a stocking...
