The surface stability of two interacting (for example, by van der Waals forces) incompressible thin films, one bonded to a substrate and the other to a contactor, is studied extending the work of Shenoy and Sharma, Physical Review Letters 18, 119–122 (2001). The analysis indicates that the wavelength of the instability depends strongly on the shear moduli and thicknesses of the films but not on...
research on reading comprehension supports the contribution of the topic sentence to better understanding of the paragraph by efl readers. however, the level of language proficiency, which has recently been recognized as an interacting factor with many language processing tasks, has not been taken into account in previous research. therefore, the prupose of this study is to investigate the rela...
We presents quantitative and qualitative arguments in favor of the claim that, within the present cosmological epoch, the U(1)Y factor in the Standard Model is an effective manifestation of SU(2) pure gauge dynamics of Yang-Mills scale Λ ∼ 10−4 eV. Results for the pressure and the energy density in the deconfining phase of this theory, obtained in a nonperturbative and analytical way, support t...
We discuss the non-Boltzmannian nature of quasi-stationary states in the Hamiltonian Mean Field (HMF) model, a paradigmatic model for long-range interacting classical many-body systems. We present a theorem excluding the Boltzmann-Gibbs exponential weight in Gibbs Γ-space of microscopic configurations, and comment a paper recently published by Baldovin and Orlandini (2006). On the basis of the ...
Surfactant abstraction by reservoir lIIinerals is goverlled by a nulllber of interacting pI,enomena owulg to the heteroqelltlity of the reservoir rock, the c~lex nature of the surfact.nts use.!, as well as the .ulticonponent nature of the reservoir fluid resulting fr~ the presence of inorqanics, co-surfactants, oil and polyJ:lers. The role of these factors in influencing die surfactant abstract...
We study quantum particles in interaction with a force-carrying field, the quasi-classical limit. This limit is characterized by field having very large number of excitations (it therefore macroscopic), while retain their nature. prove that interacting microscopic dynamics converges, limit, to an effective where acts as classical environment drives particles.
Background. Possession of motor skills from an early age by interacting with the outdoor environment has a long-term effect on physical activity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a restriction to interacting directly with it especially kindergarten students when doing online learning or learning from home due to pandemic health measures. There is a series of literature that reviews ...
The recently discovered two-phase phenomenon in financial markets [Nature 421, 130 (2003)] is examined with the German financial index DAX, minority games, and dynamic herding models. It is observed that the two-phase phenomenon is an important characteristic of financial dynamics, independent of volatility clustering. An interacting herding model correctly produces the two-phase phenomenon.
Background and Aim: Gamification refers to the use of game elements in non-game contexts to motivate engagement. This definition is the most comprehensive one presented so far. The term was proposed first in 2002 but it has been prolonged 8 years to attract individuals’’ attention. Gamification has been applied in various contexts according to its capabilities. The current study aims to investi...
