Small lanthanide clusters have interesting magnetic properties, but their structures are unknown. We have identified the structures of small terbium cluster cations Tb(n)(+) (n = 5-9) in the gas phase by analysis of their vibrational spectra. The spectra have been measured via IR multiple photon dissociation of their complexes with Ar atoms in the 50-250 cm(-1) range with an infrared free elect...

IR and Raman spectra of 2,6-dimethoxyphenol were recorded and analyzed. The vibrational wavenumbers of the compound have been computed using the Hartree-Fock/6-31G* basis and compared with the experimental values. Predicted infrared intensities and Raman activities are reported.

Nelfinavir mesylate is the first nonpeptidic protease inhibitor available in pediatric formulation. In the present paper the stability of nelfinavir mesylate under different stress conditions is evaluated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The drug is subjected to thermal degradation, photodegradation, acid hydrolysis, base hydrolysis and oxidation as per ICH guidelines. Differentia...

Open-path FT-IR spectra of low-concentration releases of diethyl ether were measured both when a glycol fog was passed into the infrared beam and when large water droplets from a lawn sprinkler were sprayed into the beam. It was shown that the glycol fog, for which the droplet size was much less than the wavelength of the infrared radiation, gave rise to a significant interference such that par...

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy of biological cells is a growing area of research, with many papers focusing on differences between the spectra of cancerous and noncancerous cells. Much of this research has been performed using a monolayer of dehydrated cells. We posit that the use of monolayers can introduce artefacts that lead to an apparent but inaccurate measurement of differences between cancer...

Here, we report on near-infrared and ATR/FT-IR spectroscopic measurements of magnesium stearate and potato starch powder blends. In the pharmaceutical and food industries, magnesium stearate is commonly used as a supplement in powder blends or granules for the purpose of lubrication and to minimize aggregation and adherence. However, excessive blending of magnesium stearate (MgSt) may lead to u...

We present mid IR spectro-photometric imaging of a sample of eight nearby (D ≤ 240 pc) Herbig Ae/Be stars. The spectra are dominated by photospheric emission (HR6000), featureless infrared excess emission (T Cha), broad silicate emission feature (HR5999) and the infrared emission bands (HD 97048, HD 97300, TY CrA, HD 176386). The spectrum of HD179218 shows both silicate emission and infrared em...

Vaucheriaxanthin is 19'-OH and not 19-OH neoxanthin. This structural conclusion was borne out by mass, PMR and infrared (IR) spectra from the free pigment and its derivatives (vaucheriaxanthal, vaucheriaxanthal-diacetate, vaucheriaxanthal-diacetate-mono (trimethylsilyl) -ether, vaucheriaxanthintriacetateand triacetate-monosilanate, vaucheriaxanthin-dimethylether) and by comparison of the charac...

Three novel nitrogen-containing macrolides have been synthesized by esterification. All of them have been characterized by infrared (IR), elemental analysis, mass spectra (MS), and 1H NMR spectroscopy, and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The preparation methods and the intermolecular associations based on C–H· · ·O hydrogen bonds and ππ stacking int...

Self-assembled microwires of terephthalic acid (TPA) and melamine are prepared through the evaporation of water in a solution mixture of TPA and melamine. The microwires were characterized by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectra, and cross-polarized optical microscopy (CPOM). The TPA•M microwires showed semi-conductive properties.
