The diagnosis of intrahepatic aneurysm was suspected following radioisotope scintigraphic studies. A patient developed abdominal pain following blunt abdominal trauma. The scintigrams of the liver revealed a large intrahepatic defect and separation between lung and liver. Angiogram revealed a large false aneurysm of the right hepatic artery.

Abstract To avoid hepatobiliary and gastric ischaemia related directly to Appleby Kondo’s procedures, a novel SCARPS procedure (Staged Celiac Artery Resection with PancreatoSplenectomy) for resection of pancreatic cancer involving celiac axis trunk is described here. A 67-year-old female biopsy proven Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC) encasing common hepatic artery underwent two stage rob...

During the past 5 years, 104 angiographic studies were performed in 87 patients (45 children and 42 adults) with 92 transplanted livers for evaluation of possible vascular complications. Seventy percent of the studies were abnormal. Hepatic artery thrombosis was the most common complication (seen in 42% of children studied, compared with only 12% of adults) and was a major complication that fre...

Pseudoaneurisms are arterial wounds that affect all layers of an artery; although very rare they mostly lethal and most them iatrogenic. Herein, we present two different cases hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms derived from previous surgeries which were assessed by computed tomography angiographies consequent conservative endovascular approaches with arteriographies, posterior cannulations the plac...

BACKGROUND Intrahepatic arterial aneurysms are rare and typically related to trauma, transplantation, iatrogenic injury, or infection. They account for approximately 10% of clinically significant hemobilia. CASE REPORT We present the case of a 49-year-old man with an intraparenchymal hepatic artery aneurysm that presented as massive hemobilia following a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The aneu...

A novel method of repeated hepatic dearterialization was evaluated in five patients with multiple metastases from gastric cancer in both hepatic lobes. After gastrectomy with extensive lymph node dissection (R2/3), all patients underwent implantation of a vascular occluder around the hepatic artery. Cannulation of the hepatic artery was added for later chemotherapy. The hepatic artery was occlu...

Normal hepatic arterial anatomy occurs in approximately 50-80% of cases; for the remaining cases, multiple variations have been described. Knowledge of these anomalies is especially important in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in order to avoid unnecessary complications. We describe two cases of patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy for abnormalities in the head of the pancreas. Preope...

OBJECTIVE To analyze the prevalence of anatomical variations of celiac arterial trunk (CAT) branches and hepatic arterial system (HAS), as well as the CAT diameter, length and distance to the superior mesenteric artery. MATERIALS AND METHODS Retrospective, cross-sectional and predominantly descriptive study based on the analysis of multidetector computed tomography images of 60 patients. RE...

We present a 39-year-old patient with massive duodenal bleeding ulcer. The patient had multiple variants in his hepatic arterial anatomy that led us to erroneously embolize the dorsal pancreatic artery presuming it to be the gastroduodenal artery. Due to this erroneous presumption, our patient continued to have upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Repeat angiogram was performed, during which the ac...
