Co-treatment of landfill leachate and sewage in a traditional wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) is a very common leachate management method in the United States. However, biologically recalcitrant and humic-like leachate organic matters (the major fraction of mature leachate organics) cannot be truly removed by the aerobic biodegradation in WWTPs. Prior to effluent discharge from WWTPs, chlorin...
Introduction: A reasonable assumption in the search for life on ocean worlds is that the limit of detection required of analytical instrumentation for dissolved organics is on the order of parts-per-billion, which is similar to the concentration of organics in extreme environments such as subglacial Lake Vostok in Antarctica [1]. This limit of detection requirement is challenging to meet using ...
Aerosol microphysics, chemical composition, and CCN properties were measured on the Department of Energy Gulfstream-1 aircraft during the Marine Stratus/Stratocumulus Experiment (MASE) conducted over the coastal waters between Point Reyes National Seashore and Monterey Bay, California, in July 2005. Aerosols measured during MASE included free tropospheric aerosols, marine boundary layer aerosol...
Halogenated organic contaminants, including legislated and potential persistent pollutants their precursors, represent a major environmental concern due to hazardous effects in humans wildlife as well ability bioaccumulate through the food chain, high resistance degradation, long-range atmospheric transport potential. The monitoring of these compounds environment at ultra-trace concentration le...
In the title compound, C(21)H(14)ClNO(2)S, the dihedral angle between the benzothia-zole and diphenyl methanone groups is 68.6 (2)°. The crystal structure consists of dimeric units generated by C-H⋯N bonds, further linked by C-H⋯O bonds and C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroiddistance = 3.856 (2) Å], which lead to a criss-cross assembly parallel to (001).
A conical intersection seam is behind the restriction of intramolecular rotation mechanism for aggregation induced emission in diphenyl dibenzofulvene (DPDBF). In solution, the seam is accessed through rotation around the exocyclic fulvene bond, leading to radiationless decay to the ground state. In the solid, the seam cannot be accessed because the torsion is blocked, and DPDBF becomes emissive.
Gas phase heats of formation (HOF) of 18 kinds of 390 organic compounds were calculated by quantum chemical calculation using semi-empirical PM3, PDDG and PM6 methods. The calculated HOFs were compared with the experimental data to illustrate the accuracy for different kinds of organics. Furthermore, the calculated values were linearly fitted with experimental values using the least square meth...
